Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-In order to increase the immunity of the academic community, the Crisis Center Mitigation Unit (SMCC) of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) in collaboration with the Surabaya City Health Office and the Made Health Center held a booster vaccination on Thursday, 09 June 2022 on the 1st Floor of the UNESA LP3 Building, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya . There are about 250 doses of pfizer type vaccine prepared.
The head of SMCC and event coordinator, Dr. Diana Rahmasari, S.Psi., M.Si, said that the vaccination program was attended by participants who had filled out the online registration form. Not only attended by participants who registered online, several participants came to register in person at the vaccination location.
The vaccination aims to support the acceleration of vaccination achievements at UNESA, especially the booster vaccine which is still not evenly distributed. He hopes that the booster vaccine can extend the period of protection from exposure to COVID-19. Because the immunity formed from vaccines 1 and 2 will decrease after 6 months.
"In addition, vaccination is a form of preparation for the odd semester of 2022 lectures which may be carried out completely face to face. Hopefully, the booster vaccine can provide health and safety for the academic community and students to carry out offline lectures later. However, it must be accompanied by compliance with implementing health protocols," he explained.
The uneven achievement of booster vaccination is of particular concern. Therefore, booster vaccination is becoming a priority and will continue to be intensified in the future. Furthermore, the UNESA psychologist warmly welcomed the participants who flocked to vaccinate either dose 1 vaccine, dose 2 vaccine, and booster vaccine.
He is optimistic that the extraordinary participation of the UNESA academic community will support the achievement of vaccinations on the 'One Step Ahead' campus. “The vaccination went smoothly, the enthusiasm of lecturers, staff, and students was quite high. As long as the vaccine stock is still available, we are ready to serve," said Diana.
This opportunity is a booster vaccination program that will continue to be carried out on an ongoing basis until the vaccination achievements are met. "We are ready to support the vaccination program in accordance with government directives. We hope that with the even distribution of the booster vaccination achievements, it can stimulate the body's immunity to deal with COVID-19 and realize herd immunity and support the smooth learning process and lectures at UNESA," he hoped.
