Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya–Surabaya State University students again made achievements in the international arena, this time coming from three Unesa Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) students who were ranked third in the essay category in the International IDEA PITCHING Festival of Agroindustry 2021 which was held on 10-31 July 2021. by Villanova University, United States with IPB University.
The three outstanding students are Moh. Zaidi Bin Amiruddin, Lugas Haryo Pradigdo, and Khoirun Nisa'. Being involved in the event certainly requires preparation that is not easy and must be consistent through stages that are quite challenging. Moreover, the number of participants from various world campuses makes the competition even tighter.
With persistence and effort to make Moh. Zaidi and his two colleagues were able to compete with participants from 33 other universities; 11 foreign universities and 22 domestic universities. They made it into the top three and ranked third in the essay category.
Dr. Binar Kurnia Prahani, M.Pd., expressed his pride in the achievements of the three students under his guidance. According to him, the three students are indeed active and have often won scientific writing competitions. Not only that, they also often donate medals to Unesa both in the individual and team categories.
“Regarding the International competition "IDEA PITCHING FOA 2021" it is not difficult to guide them. They are easy to understand if they are given direction and improvement of their work,” he added. Binar also added that the achievements of the students under his guidance can be a motivation for both themselves and other Unesa students to continue to work and excel both academically and non-academicly.
Moh. Zaidi said that at first they did not think about participating in the competition, which had an international level and was paid. However, after confirming it again, it turns out that the competition is free of charge. "Of course this is an opportunity for us and we just executed it and looked for a mentor," he said.
Lugas Haryo Pradigdo said that writing a paper is quite challenging, because it uses English and uses references in international journals. Sessions that are quite adrenaline-pumping are the presentations and questions and answers which of course require good English skills. File spirit and cooperation. Finally, they can enter the 'preliminary' stage and determine the champion.
For this achievement, Khoirun Nisa' on behalf of his friends expressed his gratitude to the supervisors and lecturers around FMIPA as well as to friends and parents. Not to forget, he also expressed his gratitude to Unesa for their support in being able to arrive and make achievements at this prestigious event.
