Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-Rector of Universitas Negeri Surabaya and Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation of Unesa together with the Mayor of Surabaya, The Regent of Sidoarjo and Gresik held a friendly match in the framework of the trial of Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) on Saturday (13/03/2021).
On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan., M.Kes and Dr. Sujarwanto., M.Pd., strengthened the Persebaya All Star Team together with The Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi, S.T., M.T., and Edi Santoso, Head of Infrastructure of the Surabaya Youth and Sports Office (Dispora). In addition, there are also old persebaya players Jacksen F. Tiago to Yusuf Ekodono.
While the Sidoarjo All Star team was strengthened by Ahmad Muhdlor or Gus Muhdlor, The Regent of Sidoarjo and his Deputy, Subandi. Then there is also KH Agoes Ali Masyhuri or Gus Ali, the nanny of Pondok Pesantren (Ponpes) Bumi Shalawat Lebo Sidoarjo as well as some Persebaya legends such as Uston Nawawi and Bejo Sugiantoro. Eri Cahyadi said that the match was a friendly match as well as for the gbt stadium feasibility trials that were improved for the Under-20 World Cup venue. "In addition to the stadium field trials, the purpose of this match is also to solidify the relationship and show the togetherness between Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Gresik," said Eri after the match.
The field test match was deliberately followed by coaches, former national and world players in order to immediately get a response from them regarding the feasibility of gbt and things that need to be improved and improved in the future.
Rector Unesa appreciated the progressive steps of the Surabaya City Government which continues to try to improve the face of GBT so that it becomes part of an important national stadium that supports the U-20 World Cup.
According to Nurhasan, Unesa as a campus that is one of its flagships in the field of sports will continue to support the government's steps in advancing East Java and National sports, including in preparing the main sports facilities and infrastructures of international standard so that the city of Surabaya deserves to host international sports events.
