Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Student Association of the Department of Economics Education, Faculty of Economics and Business, State University of Surabaya held a series of ECOLY 2021 activities in early November 2021. The activities were attended by hundreds of high school/MA/vocational vocational students from various regions throughout Indonesia. One of the goals is to hone students' competence in economics and accounting.
ECOLY is held in several rounds, there are preliminary round, semifinal round, final round, and grand final round. The first round, namely the elimination round, will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Participants are divided into four sessions and each session is given a question with a different code from the other sessions.
The semifinals will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Participants who take part in the semifinals are participants who pass the preliminary round consisting of 31 teams. In that session, participants were faced with 50 multiple choice questions and 5 essays. "Armed with the evaluation in the preliminary round, the committee was able to carry out the semifinals in an epic, smooth and successful manner," said the chairman of the committee.
There were 9 teams who made it through to the final round. The peak of the final and grand final of ECOLY will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021. The peak event was attended by judges from the Faculty of Economics and Business UNESA, namely Eka Hendi Ardyansyah, S.Pd. , M.Pd, Mohamad Arief Rafsanjani, S.Pd., M.Pd, Heni Purwa Pamungkas, S.Pd., M.Pd, and Putri Ulfa Kamalia, S.Pd., M.Pd.
In that session, participants were given accounting and economic case studies to train their thinking skills and increase their knowledge in economics and accounting. Then in the last round, the grand final, participants were given the opportunity to express their opinions through debates which aimed to train participants in critical thinking and argumentation. The debate was attended by 4 teams which were divided into two pro teams and 2 contra teams.
After the grand final, this year's winning team was announced, in the first category, 1st place was the KEYNES team from MAN 2 Malang, 2nd place was the DREAMIES team from SMAN 3 Tuban, 3rd place was the DINDA team from MAN 2 Bojonegoro. Then, in the second category, the 1st place was the PLUTO MARS team from MAN DEMAK, the 2nd place was won by the CATERIS PARIBUS team from SMAN MODEL TERPADU Bojonegoro, and the 3rd place was won by TAXQUAD MANSIDA.
