Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–UNESA held an orientation event for new students of the Unesa International Student Scholarship (ISS), Friday (27/08/2021). The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor for the Academy, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., Vice Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance Suprapto, S.Pd., M.T., Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni Dr. Agus Hariyanto, M.Kes, and Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd. as Vice Chancellor for Planning and Cooperation. Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., in his speech said that the number of applicants for foreign nationals in 2021 through the various programs provided set a new record, namely more than 200 prospective international students. Applicants come from 10 countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
According to him, this is an extraordinary achievement and international students' interest in studying at UNESA continues to increase. As many as 200 applicants, he continued, 143 new students were accepted accumulatively through various programs, such as Summer Course, BIPA, Developing Country Partnership scholarships, and Unesa International Students Scholarship. "Today's activity is to welcome and accept 31 foreign students through the Unesa International Student Scholarship program," he said.
Dr. Muhamad Soleh, M.Pd, Head of the UNESA MBKM Task Force said he would continue to provide quality education services and systems for foreign students. "Facilities have supported UNESA plus qualified programs and we hope that students from outside get a lot of things that they don't get at other educational institutions or if they study in other countries," he concluded.
Meanwhile. Asrori, S.S., M.Pd., in his report said that around 92 applicants were interested in joining this program, but only 31 people managed to become UNESA new foreign students. They are spread across several faculties at UNESA. The details are the Faculty of Economics and Business there are 2 people, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law also 2 people, the Faculty of Language and Arts there are 1 people, the Faculty of Education also 1 person), and the Faculty of Engineering there are 11 people.
In addition, the master class has 12 people, and the doctoral class has 4 people. They came from several countries, such as the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Madagascar, Timor Leste, Afghanistan, India, Ghana, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Thailand, Egypt, and Cambodia.
He also explained about the developing country partnership program, which is the first year the program is being implemented. In this program, UNESA will only accept six students; 3 for the undergraduate program and 3 for the master's program.
Developing Country Partnership Scholarships (KNB) or Developing Country Partnerships are scholarships offered by the government of Indonesia, the Ministry of International Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia to international citizens from developing countries to pursue bachelor's and master's degrees at universities in Indonesia.
