Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—Interest in studying cultural diversity in Indonesia is one of the reasons why Alfina Damai Yanti participated in the Independent Student Exchange (PMM) Batch 4 2024 program. Undergraduate Student in Communication Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UNESA had the opportunity to study for one semester at Sriwijaya University (UNSRI), South Sumatra.
The student who is familiarly called Alfina said that the Nusantara Module course was one of the reasons that made her interested in joining the PMM 2024 program. This module is only available to students who take part in the student exchange program.
The activities are held every weekend. "I think it's really interesting because you can study the culture here," said the student who is currently undergoing the PMM program at Bumi Sriwijaya.
Even though the program she received was the same as lectures in general, Alfina admitted that studying in a place with a new culture was a very impressive experience.
The reason for joining PMM was actually because she was interested in interacting with her friends. friends from all campuses in Indonesia. "I think this will be exciting and can be useful for my future career path," he said.
Not only lectures in class, in this PMM program Alfina also had the opportunity to make social contributions in the local village. This experience made her quite impressed because he could directly feel the good reception from the local community and enjoy various stunning natural tourist destinations.
“We made a social contribution to Pedamaran 6 Village, Pedamaran District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (OKI). "in the form of providing aid for Lake Marga Songket Weaving Handloom, then being introduced to the Pedamaran Incang-Incang Culture with Barap Hasyim singers, culinary delights, and natural tourism as well," she explained.
Regarding tourist attractions, Alfina added, in her opinion the natural scenery in "We were invited to take a ketek boat to Black Air Lake, one of the tourist attractions located around the Ampera Bridge. There is Pempek Village which sells typical Palembang Pempek," he added Alfina, this PMM program is a very meaningful experience and can later be used as a stepping stone for her to interact with many people in the world of work later.[]
