Annisa Budi Damayanti, undergraduate student of English Literature, FBS, UNESA who passed the IISMA program to Lithuania.
Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA–Having the opportunity to study abroad is a source of pride for Annisa Budi Damayanti, English Literature undergraduate student, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) Surabaya State University (UNESA). Even for his parents. She passed the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) selection and will study in Lithuania.
Annisa said that initially the IISMA program was not on her dream list. The second child of the couple Budi Hartono and Khoirun Nisak thinks that this program is too big for children from remote areas like him.
Apart from that, the process is long and requires money, which makes him worried that it will burden his parents who work as farmers.< /p>
In the midst of her doubts, her parents fully supported her in taking part in the program that was predicted by many Indonesian students.
The desire of this woman from Jampit Village, Bondowoso, East Java became increasingly grew and became stronger when he remembered his father's experience of successfully sending students abroad after conducting research in his field.
"My father can take other people abroad, why can't I? From there I was motivated to prepare everything "necessities, all the requirements are maximal for registering with IISMA," he said.
In the preparation stage, this woman, who is often called Boday by her friends, focused on studying the English Test Proficiency, which according to her was also not easy even though she was an English Literature student, what's more, the price of the test was not cheap.
Apart from that, he received essay writing guidance from his senior who was an IISMA alumnus. Not to forget, he also prepares for diversity tests and interviews.
The biggest challenge is not the number of competitors and the ongoing process, but his own thoughts and beliefs. However, he really believes in the power of prayer.
He believes that Allah always gives the best for His servants. "What I did was focus on every stage and process and did not take every process lightly. Thank God, unexpectedly, I was accepted," he added.
In Lithuania, Annisa will study at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), a campus in Kaunas City. His aim in choosing this campus was to strengthen his insight, knowledge and experience in the field of linguistics which is his interest.
Furthermore, he also wanted to explore linguistic phenomena there, considering that Lithuania is not an English-speaking country which he believed could help him in preparing the thesis later. "I have arranged my goals neatly, so that later there everything will be clear and on target," he said.
When he returns home, he will share his experiences while participating in this program with his friends later, as well as share his experiences in The country with the oldest Indo-European language in the world.
This woman who loves traveling hopes that, in the coming year, more UNESA students will be interested in taking part in and passing the IISMA program. He said that passing this program is not the peak, but how to face fears and doubts.
Enjoy the process, because for him, the IISMA program does not start when you arrive at your destination country or campus, but starts with preparation, registration and selection itself. "As long as we have clear goals, consistent steps, the results will follow," he concluded.[]
