Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—The 'Growing with Character' Campus continues to innovate in encouraging the development of micro, small and medium business units or MSMEs in the regions. Most recently, Surabaya State University (UNESA) lecturers designed an Ecoprint Batik Steamer machine.
The machine, which was born from the creativity of a team of UNESA lecturers led by Imami Arum Tri Rahayu, consisting of Handini Novita Sari and Lilik Anifah, was implemented at Daun Efek UKM, Sidoarjo some time ago.
The head of the service team, Imami Arum Tri Rahayu said that this machine is equipped with an automatic temperature and time control system, so it can maintain ideal conditions during the steaming process.
By using LPG as a heat source, this machine is able to produce steam with a stable temperature, ensuring that the color transfer from natural materials to batik fabric takes place evenly.
Apart from that, this machine is also designed to make it easier for users to operate, equipped with a special rack to make it easier to place and lift the cloth."We designed a special pan to adjust the size of the batik roll, so there is no need to bend the cloth roll which can cause twist marks on batik cloth," he explained.

The machine control system has settings temperature and water level which can automatically regulate gas and flame output according to needs during the soaking process.
In addition, there is a container rack which makes it easier to insert or remove finished rolls of batik cloth. It is also equipped with a wheeled frame which makes it easier to move the machine so that it can be operated more easily.
"We know that sometimes the ecoprint process takes time, that's why we use a 2-burner low pressure stove which can speed up and evenly heat on batik cloth," said Imami Arum.
Handini Novita Sari, a team member, added that apart from implementing the machine innovation, they also provide digital-based marketing management assistance to SMEs so that they can be more adept at introducing their products to the public or customers which are more

The presence of this machine received a positive response from Daun Efek UKM. Siti Harnanik as the UKM owner said that the machine designed by the UNESA lecturer team really helped the ecoprint product production process. Apart from being more effective, it is also efficient."This machine helps us produce products with sharper and more even colors.
