Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—An atmosphere full of emotion accompanied the graduation procession for the 112th period of Surabaya State University (UNESA) which took place at Graha UNESA, Campus II Lidah Wetan, on Wednesday, 30 October 2024.
The graduation procession should be a great momentum happy for the family, in fact it was touching for Nur Malinda who looked strong representing the graduation of her older sibling, Nur Ifiana.
Nur Ifiana successfully completed her undergraduate studies at the Economic Education Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). He was the one who was supposed to be present wearing a scholar's toga, kını is in the memories. Yes, he died before graduation day arrived.
Ifi, that was his nickname, a student from Sumenep, was known as a person who was diligent and highly enthusiastic in pursuing his dreams. Behind her cheerful smile, Ifi has been fighting against the disease that has been eating away at her body since 2019.
Even though her struggle to get a bachelor's degree was stopped, her dream was still fulfilled through the presence of her younger sister who came to receive the diploma on behalf of her brother.
"Mbak Ifi always said that she was fine," said Nur Malinda.
Even though she was sick, Ifi chose to hide her suffering by continuing to carry out her usual activities, as if nothing was there. the heavy burden that befell him.
Loving and Big Dreamer
His younger brother couldn't hold back his tears when he remembered the figure of his loving brother. "Ms. Ifi was very gentle, always patient in giving advice. She never got angry, always taught kindness in a gentle way," he recalled.
Ifi's struggle in achieving education should be appreciated . Thanks to his academic achievements, especially as a memorizer of the Koran, he managed to get a scholarship and was accepted at two well-known universities.
His choice fell on UNESA in the hope of contributing to education in his hometown, Kangean Island.< /p>

Nur Malinda brought her sister's photo and diploma accompanied by UNESA Chancellor Cak Hasan and FEB Dean Anang Kistyanto. UNESA provided compensation to the family of the late Nur Ifiana.
Ifi has big dreams. He wants to make his parents happy who work as migrant workers in Malaysia. "This sis is pursuing a diploma as a gift for her parents," Ifi said firmly in her sister's mind.
She is active in various campus organizations and rarely goes home. She is focused on her studies, hoping to soon complete her education and bring her family to the Holy Land.
"What you dream of, God willing, I will continue," said Malinda, who is committed to continuing her sister's dreams to help advance education on Kangean Island.
Remembers a Friend
Ifi's figure is also missed by her friends, one of whom is Indah Kusumawati. Indah got to know him during her Real Work Study (KKN) period in 2023. Ifi's departure before she could graduate was a deep blow for Indah, who had planned to graduate together.
“Even though I had postponed my graduation period just to be able to graduate with Ifi, but fate said otherwise." Indah's words were full of sadness.
Indah remembers Ifi as a person who was cool and full of smiles. "Nearby it feels like under a tree with a cool breeze," said Indah.
Ifi's passing has indeed left deep sorrow for his family, friends, and the leadership and extended family of UNESA. However, her enthusiasm and kindness will continue to be an inspiration to those who know and love her.
As a form of respect for Ifi's struggle and dedication while studying at UNESA, UNESA Chancellor Nurhasan provided compensation to the family of the deceased amounting to IDR 25 million.< /p>
It is hoped that this compensation will ease the burden on the family left behind and be a form of appreciation for Ifi's fighting spirit in pursuing knowledge and noble ideals for her parents.[*]
