The opening of the PPK Ormawa HMP Biology Education activity was attended by village heads and officials as well as local residents.

SIDOARJO—The Student Association of Biology Education Study Program (HMP) 'Red Pineapple' Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNESA has passed funding for the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The program they are proposing is about Empowering the Independent Care Group "GASUMI" in Sumokali Village through Conservation of Family Medicinal Plants (Toga) Based on Toga Product Diversification.
The opening of the Ormawa PPK activities was held at the Sumokali Village Hall, District. Temple, Sidoarjo Regency on Saturday, June 27 2024. This program was opened by Subiyanto, Head of Sumokali Village, attended by village officials and residents.
The Ormawa PPK activities will be carried out until October, consisting of various series of training that will involve active participation from Sumokali Village residents. This program includes the revitalization of family medicinal plant land or toga so as to create village toga conservation.
Then there is also a toga management workshop, a workshop on making yogurt, telang and moringa or YOKEL. Then, there was a workshop on making instant dip drinks using a combination of butterfly pea flower and ginger, training on making compost fertilizer, as well as a workshop on utilizing digital platforms used for marketing processed toga products.
The Sumokali Village Head welcomes this program and hopes that it can encourage the empowerment and independence of residents through sustainable utilization and development of village potential.
Kholilah Dwi Kartika Desi, UNESA 'Young Pineapple' Ormawa PPK team, said that the aim of this activity was to improve the community's skills in processing toga commodities and marketing them online.
This program also includes the establishment of a "GASUMI Shop" which is expected to optimize BUMDES by utilizing existing facilities as a physical marketing platform for processed toga products. “GASUMI” is an extension of Toga Subur Bersemi. GASUMI is an Independent Care group that focuses on managing and initiating TOGA processing in Sumokali Village.
The hope is that the implementation of these programs can create new business opportunities that can improve the community's economy, provide education regarding the use of digital platforms for the community Sumokali village, and can strengthen ties between educational institutions and the community and have a positive impact on both the community and students.[]
