Ade Umar Said Schütz is one of them. The man from Lampung currently lives in Munich, Bayern, Germany and works for the Goethe-Institut.
Ade Umar Said shared his teaching experience in the state capital as well as the largest city in the state of Bayern, Germany in a talkshow entitled "Being a German Language Teacher in Munich and a Brief About Munich" which was held in collaboration with the Department of German Language and Literature, UNESA and the Community. He said that working abroad was an adrenaline rush and an interesting experience. However, behind it there is a journey and process that is also interesting and challenges that are not small. "Everything has its challenges, I chose to conquer those challenges so that I can finally be like now," he said.
There are several challenges that need to be faced, namely the problem of language skills which of course plays a key role. Especially as a teacher, language must be mastered, so that the material presented is easily understood by the audience. "I have had ups and downs in learning German, it's called learning someone else's language, right, but every difficulty comes with ease, I keep learning and finally I can do it," he said.
In addition, Ade Umar Said also needs to find a lot of information about his career. I'm in the field of German, a lot of looking for information and opportunities to Germany. Moreover, information is now available and easily accessible on the internet. Opportunities like that are now getting easier, especially since there are many student exchanges with overseas campuses. "It can be used to build international networks and enrich experiences," he said.
He advised, for those who are interested in a career abroad, especially in Germany, they can pay attention to several things. First, prepare qualified German language skills. Second, routinely looking for information about opportunities to Germany, comparative studies or student exchanges can be used. You can also pass as a volunteer. Third, prepare other skills and of course mentality. Because living abroad away from family requires a mental struggle that is not easy.
“In order to motivate yourself and enrich your experience, it is necessary to regularly participate in various talk shows that discuss work opportunities abroad. Because there is a lot of important information and inspiration from the speakers,” he said.
