Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Tirto's class is entitled “Storytelling Via Data" was held at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol), Surabaya State University (UNESA) Campus 1 Ketintang, on Wednesday, November 6 2024.
This activity is part of the Tirto.id roadshow with the Bank Jago, which aims to increase students' understanding of data journalism and financial literacy.
The event began with remarks from the Deputy Dean I of Fisipol UNESA, Harmanto, who expressed his appreciation for the initiative Tirto.id in providing additional insight to students.
"We hope that this activity can inspire students to be more critical and innovative in using data as a basis for decision making," he said.
One of An important moment in this event was the signing of a cooperation agreement between Tirto.id, Bank Jago and UNESA.
This signing is expected to strengthen collaboration in the fields of data-based journalism, research, and internship programs for UNESA students.
There were two speakers who attended this event, namely Edo Velandika, Consumer Business Community Manager of Bank Jago, and Dwi Ayuningtyas, Business Editor of Tirto.id.
Edo Velandika opened the panel discussion with exposure to healthy personal financial management through the principles of record, separate, allocate and evaluate.
"This principle can help us manage our finances wisely and in a planned manner," he said.

Deputy Dean 1 of Fisipol emphasized the importance of this activity for students.
Dwi Ayuningtyas shares insight into the importance of data as the main pillar in preparing quality news.
With accurate data, he emphasized, the media can help the public understand complex problems in depth, increase literacy, and empower people to make better decisions.
Next, in the workshop session , Fina Nailur from the Tirto.id research team led training on data journalism. In this session, he explains how data can be used to create more credible and impactful news.
Fina also provides practical tips in searching and analyzing data to reveal facts that are rarely noticed in conventional news. "Data can become a powerful story when processed carefully and correctly," he said.
Safira Mushollia, a UNESA student who is majoring in media management, felt that the material presented was very relevant to the studies she was undertaking.
This activity can increase students' understanding of how data is used to convey accurate and impactful information.
“I see it as very relevant for all students who want to understand more deeply about data-based communication. "This is not only useful in the field of journalism, but also in other fields that require data analysis and interpretation," he said.[*]
