Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-There are many ways that can be used to increase knowledge and insight into civics and nationality education among students. One of them can be through competitions such as those held by the Department of Pancasila Moral Education and Citizenship (PMPKN) UNESA. They held the 2021 National Civic Education Competition with the theme "Creating an Active, Critical, Caring and Nationalist (Actual) Generation in the Era of Society 5.0".
Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Dr. H. Muhammad Turhan Yani, M.A stated that the National Civics Competition is routinely held every year and is followed by students from various regions. According to him, the competition is very important to be held to increase learning motivation, train students in critical thinking and stimulate the birth of innovations among students. "Competing in goodness is a must, that's where creativity and innovation are born," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hj. Rr. Nanik Setyowati, M.Pd, the chief executive, stated that the event was packaged in several stages, the participants had to pass step by step until they reached the final round and the winner was determined.
The competition is held online. The preliminary and final rounds were held on October 23, 2021 and won the 10 best student teams from various cities, some from Denpasar, Bojonegoro, Mediun, Bekasi and Lamongan who will compete for the title this year.
According to him, this activity is a momentum in fostering a sense of nationalism as well as an opportunity to add insight and knowledge of students related to Pancasila and Citizenship Education so that it becomes a provision in contributing to the homeland and nation.
From the results of the competition, Oxana Ferodova and Tria Wulandari from SMAN 2 Madiun managed to come out as champions of the 2021 PPKn Competition. In second place were Ade Gumelar Pangestu and Farryzki Noor Thoriq a team from SMAN 1 Bojonegoro. Meanwhile, Kathryn Laurencia Setiawan and C. Sean Dihayat, team one from Gloria Christian High School. In fourth place were Miracle E Herman and Danelle Faine Gunawan, third team from Gloria Christian High School.
