Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–With the theme "Enhancing the Role of Political Education in Realizing Democracy in the Era of the Pandemic", UNESA's Geography Research Community (GREENTY) held a leadership webinar on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
Dr. Sukma Pradana Prasetya, S.Pd., M.T., the coach of BSO GREENTY UNESA said that with this webinar, students can learn how to lead, both leading themselves and leading a community. He hopes that in the future, GREENTY students will be able to produce scientific works that can provide better changes for society.
Lecturer of Pancasila Education and Hindu Religion Education, State University of Surabaya, Dr. I Nengah Mariasa, M.Hum., in the presentation session explained about "Understanding Krisna and Sengkuni as the Basics of Student Politics".
Nengah Mariasa said, students can imitate how two legendary figures such as Krisna and Sengkuni behave in politics, where Sengkuni always fights for power so that Duryudhana can become king. However, Sengkuni was always self-sufficient in politics and hoped for worldly rewards from Duryudhana.
Meanwhile, the figure of Krisna is never selfless in politics. With his intelligence and sincerity, he was able to fight for the rights of the Pandavas in order to win the Bharatayudha war. "There is no bad politics, it all comes back to personal intelligence," he said.
Then Yuni Lestari, S.Ap., M.Ap., Lecturer of D4 AN Vocational Program at State University of Surabaya and Lecturer of MKWU Citizenship Education explained about "Democratic Spirit in Leadership Development for Young Generation".
Democracy cannot be separated from values; 1) Solve problems peacefully and institutionally. 2) Ensuring the peaceful implementation of change in a changing society. 3) Recognizing and assuming that there is diversity in society which is reflected in differences of opinion, interests and behavior. 4) Limiting the use of violence and ensuring the upholding of justice. 5) Organizing a change of leadership on a regular basis.
He also shared his views on knowing the characteristics of a democratic leader. "Among them are those who apply a two-way approach, those who encourage participation and involvement, and those who value ideas and creativity," he concluded. (UNESA PR)
