Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-This time, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNESA held the National Mathematics and Science Competition (KNMIPA) which was attended by participants from various LPTK universities. The activity was carried out online on Saturday (14/08/2021).
The event was attended by Dr. Agus Hariyanto, M.Kes., as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dean of FMIPA Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Sc., and their staff. There were also three deans and deputy deans from related LPTK universities.
In his report, Dr. Sifak Indana M.Pd., as the deputy dean for student affairs and alumni, said that the competition was attended by 342 students, divided into the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. The national competition was participated by eleven LPTK universities, namely, Semarang State University (Unnes), Indonesian Education University (UPI), Padang State University (UNP).
In addition, there are also Malang State University (UM), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Jakarta State University (UNJ), Manado State University (Unima), Makassar State University (UNM), Medan State University (Unimed), Gorontalo State University ( UNG) and Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha).
KNMIPA is carried out as an effort to print and attract young people who have a competitive spirit in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and young people who have high creative thinking power who are expected to be able to create new breakthroughs in the scientific field to prepare themselves to face competition in the era of globalization.
The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumnis said that the younger generation has an important role in the development of science and technology. Therefore, young people must be smart and good at utilizing knowledge, especially in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Seeing the role of the younger generation which is the key to this century, he continued, character education is needed in order to create a personal generation that can develop science and technology and use it wisely so that it is useful for the community, country and nation.
Maulidatul Kurnia Pratiwi, the event committee said that the CBT-based competition was in collaboration with PPTI Unesa. The results of the 'championship' will be announced right after the commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, August 18, 2021 along with the closing ceremony. (hasna/zam)
