Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-To deal with changes in society in various fields after the Covid-19 pandemic, adaptation to the new order is needed. This condition prompted the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, State University of Surabaya (FISH UNESA) to hold the International Conference on Social Science and Law 2021 for two days, 10-11 October 2021, online.
This scientific forum presents four main international speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Reevany Bustami, Ph.D., from the University Sains Malaysia, Prof. Jiang-Bang Deng, Ph.D., from Tamkang University, Thailand, and Prof. Dr.Habil Barbara Theilen-Willige from the Technische Universitat Berlin, Germany and Prof. Dr. Zuhairah Ariff Bint Abd. Ghadas from Sultan Zainal Abidin University Malaysia.
Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Cooperation on that occasion emphasized UNESA's commitment to always play an active role in responding to various post-pandemic community conditions through various scientific activities. "We see this pandemic forcing us to adapt in various sectors and find new patterns in living life. This is certainly a challenge as well as an opportunity to innovate. For that we need a variety of new ideas and UNESA is ready to contribute to the provision of these strategies through various scientific activities like this," he said.
According to him, scientific meetings between researchers are important to find new ideas that are useful for society. For this reason, UNESA will always support and encourage the growth of scientific traditions in Indonesia and in the world.
“In today's conditions, universities are expected to always provide solutions to community problems. For this reason, we at UNESA must continue to strengthen scientific traditions like this. I wish you good luck and congratulations on the first ever event from FISH. This is a good form of response, hopefully it will become a routine agenda to generate ideas and innovations in the social and legal fields,” he said.
In line with that, Dr. Bambang Sigit Widodo, M.Pd., Deputy Dean for Student Affairs at FISH, who acts as chairman of the committee, hopes that this scientific forum can encourage the development of science, especially social science and law. “We present speakers from various countries to share knowledge about phenomena that occur in various parts of the world. There is also a discussion between researchers in a focused discussion. Hopefully this activity can trigger collaboration between researchers from various countries,” he explained.
In addition to the main session by the four main speakers, for two days 160 social science and legal researchers presented their research results and discussed them in small forums and will be published in international journals and proceedings. [UNESA PR]
