Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – Universitas Negeri Surabaya through the Crisis Center Mitigation Unit (SMCC) sent volunteers to help flood victims in Lumajang and Probolinggo. The release ceremony was held on Wednesday (10/03/2021) at the Rectorate Lobby unesa. On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Agus Hariyanto, M.Kes., Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni and Dr. Diana Rahmasari, S.Psi., M.Si., Head of Crisis Center Mitigation Unit Unesa.
In total there were about 18 volunteers leaving. They consist of students spread across various faculties in Unesa. They are Doni Setyawan, Amirul Irham, Elita Resti Aulia, Dicky Bayu Dwi, Khoirotul Lailiyah, Haryantim, Dian Fitriani and eleven other students. In his explanation, Wiryo Nuryono, S.Pd., M.Pd. said that humanitarian action this time the goal is in two locations, namely Kedungdalem Village, Dringu Subdistrict, Probolinggo Regency and Kutorenon Village, Sukodono Subdistrict, Lumajang.
The task of the volunteers is to distribute donations to flood victims, then conduct trauma healing and disaster mitigation. "Our goal is to focus on strengthening the ability of citizens in the face of disasters. That's all that matters," he said. "In this humanitarian action, students are accompanied by mentors," he continued.
The funds used in the humanitarian action, added Diana Rahmasari, one of which was sourced from the Charity Match With Persebaya Legend which was held on March 5, 2021. "We use the funds for the procurement of goods and basic needs that will be distributed to flood victims," he said. "This activity is one of the great gifts, which we have often done. However, we must continue to do so, because it is our responsibility and a form of community service," he said.
Agus Hariyanto in his speech advised the volunteers to maintain health, comply with health protocols at all times and follow every instruction from the lecturer. "Keep the spirit, this is a noble agenda that can be a means of learning and improving the quality of self that can benefit others," he said. (Hasna/zam)
