Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) opened a new study program on April 23, 2021. The study program in question is S-1 Digital Business. At the age of almost a year, the study program which is under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is well received by the community. Even this year, it is included in the top 10 study programs as the most registrants, both in the SNMPTN and UTBK-SBMPTN pathways.
UNESA Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd said, the high interest in the Digital Business study program was really beyond expectation. Why not, on the SNMPTN route, the first study program in East Java was ranked 9th in the study program with the most registrants. Meanwhile, the UTBK-SBMPTN route attracted 1,746 applicants and was ranked fourth after Communication, Management and Psychology.
"Registration in this new study program is quite extraordinary. There is a tendency for participants or the public to see future competency trends and which study programs are needed and according to their interests and talents (participants, ed)," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Digital Business Study Program, Hujjatullah Fazlurrahman, S.E., MBA., said that Digital Business Study Program is not only new at UNESA. However, it is also the newest and first in East Java. The establishment of the study program was motivated by many factors, including needs as well as demands for change.
East Java, especially Surabaya, he continued, is one of the largest manufacturing, retail and MSME centers in Indonesia which has begun to switch to digital platforms. This is the driving factor for the formulation of the need for the Digital Business study program at UNESA.
The study program is expected to be able to complement the soft and hard skills needed in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. As the results of LinkedIn research in 2020, the skills needed in this era are creativity and innovation as soft skills; and cloud computing, blockchain, UX design, big data-based business analysis, digital marketing, start-up management and digital entrepreneurship as hard skills.
From that need, the profiles of UNESA Digital Business graduates are data analysts, fintech analysts, technopreneurs (digital entrepreneurs), digital marketing managers, business development managers, and digital business consultants. "Hopefully, the digital business study program will produce graduates who are ready to use to support the digital economy in the manufacturing, retail and MSME sectors in Eastern Indonesia in particular and Indonesia in general," he explained.
There are many opportunities for students after graduation, including; First, young entrepreneurs in the digital business field. Young digital business entrepreneurs who are able to take advantage of the latest technological developments to be optimized as a basis for developing or developing a business.
Second, Digital Business consultant. A digital business consultant who is able to identify problems and find solutions based on data so that the management of organizations or institutions in the digital business field can operate more efficiently and effectively, and can develop their business.
Third, Digital Marketing professionals. Digital marketing professionals who are able to evaluate emerging IT technologies, applications and trends and provide thoughts and perspectives to adopt the right online marketing techniques. "Besides that, of course there are many more, because in the future there will be more opportunities in all sectors," he said. [UNESA PR]
