Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA – To create a safe and comfortable campus atmosphere, the UNESA Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) together with the Ambassador for Anti Bullying and Sexual Harassment, Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) socialized Permendikbudristek No. 30 of 2021 concerning PPKS in Higher Education for students around FBS, Friday (18/02/2022).
Deputy Dean of the Three FBS, Syafi'ul Anam Ph.D., in his speech he highlighted the problems related to the issue of sexual violence that is rife in educational institutions. According to him, this issue is a serious problem and must be a common concern. "This is a joint duty and responsibility to create a campus without sexual violence," he said.
Head of the UNESA PPKS Task Force, Dr. Mutimmatul Faidah, M.Ag., conveyed about the performance pattern of the PPKS Task Force in implementing Permendikbudristek No. 30 Year 2021 in UNESA. "The establishment of the PPKS task force aims to guard and take steps to prevent and handle sexual violence related to the implementation of Tridharma inside or outside campus," he explained.
In addition, the presence of the PPKS task force provides a new atmosphere for the campus environment. To foster a campus life that is human, dignified, equal, inclusive, collaborative, and non-violent among students, educators, education staff (tendik), and campus residents.
He continued, sexual violence can happen anywhere. It can be on and off campus. It can involve students with students, tendik with tendons, lecturers with lecturers or between the three. Then it can happen offline and virtually via social media platforms.
The UNESA PPKS Task Force in its performance works in accordance with the applicable code of ethics for handling cases, which still, 1) guarantees the confidentiality of the identity of the parties directly related to the report, 2) ensures the safety of victims, witnesses, and reporters, and 3) maintains the independence and credibility of the unit. Duty.
Meanwhile, Putri Aisyiyah Rachma Dewi, S. Sos., M. Med. Kom., SGA PPKS Division conveyed about how to address the issue of sexual violence that occurred. There are several things that need to be considered in responding to sexual violence, especially in terms of being a good listener to victims of sexual violence; 1) prioritize the psychological stability of the victim, 2) create or present a comfortable space to support the victim's consultation, 3) think and act strategically in responding to the victim's consultation, 4) eliminate the gaps that are detrimental to the victim by packaging a good and safe narrative law.
He added that in 2019, an investigative journalism project carried out by three media, namely Tirto.id, Vice Indonesia and The Jakarta Post, revealed the prevalence of sexual violence in various universities in Indonesia. Where in a period of 1.5 months they managed to collect as many as 207 testimonies consisting of 79 universities in 29 cities indicated cases of sexual violence. (UNESA PR)
