Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Covid-19 pandemic has caused entrepreneurship activities to experience many challenges. On the one hand, this can develop the entrepreneurial sector towards digital in the creative economy. However, many challenges in this era of disruption have even made entrepreneurs out of business.
In this regard, the Business Administration Study program, Faculty of Economics and Business, State University of Surabaya held a Millennial Entrepreneurial Guest Lecture on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. This activity was carried out to build and strengthen the mentality of entrepreneurs in running a business with all its challenges, especially the millennial generation. .
With the theme "Building Entrepreneurial Mentality for Millennials to Compete in Indonesia's Creative Economy Sector", this activity presented two presenters who were mostly involved in the entrepreneurial world, namely Hijrin Fithroni, S.Or., M. Pd., Head of the Business Development Division of the Development Unit. Bisnis Unesa and M. Nauval Syaudin, SE, Owner CV. Nauval Library. They were accompanied by a moderator, Raya Sulistyowati, S.Pd., M.Pd.
M. Nauval, an Alumni of FEB Unesa, said that the initial capital in entrepreneurship is a strong mentality and a mindset to grow. According to him, millennial age is the right moment to start a business. "Because every entrepreneur always has a share of losses, a share of failure. Start a business as early as possible, until your share of failure runs out," he said while telling his experience.
Furthermore, in running his business, namely publishing early childhood books, Nauval has experienced losses of up to hundreds of millions. However, he managed to get through all of that because he had the tenacity and ability to read opportunities to continue to innovate.
"Reading opportunities and innovating are very important in entrepreneurship, especially during a pandemic like today. Besides that, working hard, optimistic thinking, motivation and support from those closest to you are also very important to build mentality in entrepreneurship, especially when the business is experiencing losses. , "explained Nauval who now also works at PT Ragam Kreatindo, a company in the creative field of producing school memories albums.
In addition, Hijrin Fithroni, said that currently Indonesia has enormous potential in the creative economy sector. The lecturer at the Faculty of Sports Science, UNESA, said that the creative economy has various sub-sectors that should be developed, including photography, fashion, architecture, art, publishing, film and design.
"Utilizing opportunities in the creative economy sector, the key is economic actors, especially the millennial generation. They live in an all-digital era, so it is easier to express creative ideas as the times develop," he said.
He also provides support to the millennial generation who are about to start or who are running a business. In entrepreneurship, one must be able to read opportunities and take advantage of technology. Apart from following trends, one can also create trends by building a business community or collaborating with influencers. "Take advantage of social media such as Instagram, Facebook and the marketplace. Because every product has a time, and every time there is a product," he explained. (meds)
