Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—As a PTN-BH which excels in the field of disabilities, Surabaya State University (UNESA) through the Subdirectorate of the Center for Excellence in Disability Science and Technology (PUID) organizes Edufair with the theme "Disability in the Midst of Diversity" at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Psychology, UNESA Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Saturday, 14 December 2024.
Activities to commemorate the 32nd International Day of Disabilities (every 3 December) 2024 will present various activities, starting from elementary school tote bag painting competitions; make-up competition at SMPLB and SMALB/SMKLB levels.
There will also be talent performances from school representatives; communication of talents and interests of Special Education (PKB) students; as well as a gallery exhibition of work by students with disabilities around campus 'Home of Champions.'

One of the competition participants focused on beautifying and completing the drawings on the tote bags at Edufair 2024.
Kasubdit PUID, Wagino explained that This activity aims to provide space to develop the talents and interests of students and students with disabilities. It is hoped that this activity can empower children with special needs or disabilities to work.
"This is an event to give appreciation to the work of children and students with disabilities by opening up opportunities and opportunities for them to actualize themselves," he said.< /p>
Apart from that, this activity is also intended to increase public understanding and awareness of children with special needs in social, cultural and collective contexts.
Director of the UNESA Science Center (USC), Abdul Rachman Syam Tuasikal said, this activity is not limited to an annual celebration, but there is an educational mission and development of talents and interests in it.

Like an exhibition, for example, it can introduce the results of the work and innovation of students with disabilities to the public. Behind this work there is a spirit, limitations should not be an obstacle to continuing to work.
“The dynamics of life today depend on the work produced. "Because of that, we challenge students to learn and face various problems in the hope of becoming a generation that is more independent and resilient in society," he said.
Vice Chancellor II for Law, Management, Finance, Resources and Business, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri conveyed UNESA's commitment to paying more attention to developing the interests, talents and competencies of people with disabilities.

He believed, the child who was born in this world each brings their own talents and interests, and each individual is definitely different, including children with disabilities. They have special talents and abilities that need to be touched in a special way.
"With this activity we want to give appreciation to them (children with disabilities or special needs) with various activities which of course build their self-confidence and public awareness," said the professor of curriculum development.
In Edufair 2024, an MoU was also signed between UNESA and the East Java Social Service, Advanced Indonesian Women, the Surabaya Industrial Training Center, and various other partners.
"This step is clear evidence of UNESA's commitment to expanding support to communities, children and students with disabilities, both in the educational sphere and the general public," said the Deputy Chancellor for Division II.[*]
