Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-There are many innovations that can be created to help the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. One of them can be by designing applications like the students of the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Engineering, UNESA, for example. They collaborated to make the Omah Dilit application (On Demand Friendly for Disabilities, Elderly and Toddlers).
The result of Anharu Wikotama's creation with Emylia Ferlina, Yasmin Irza, Muhammad Naufal and Esa Dandy, is an application for haircuts at home. Anharu Wikotama as the founder of Omah Dilit explained that the application is to bridge the community with barbershop partners who implement strict health protocols. "Our priority process is during the pandemic, so it is safe and comfortable to do haircuts at home," he said.
He continued that the idea stemmed from his personal experience that it was difficult to get a haircut service during the pandemic. In addition to the policy of limiting community activities, there are also concerns, considering that Covid-19 is still endemic. "So I thought for the application, cutting hair at home with the procedure is certainly safer," explained Chief Executive Officer (SEO) Omah Dilit.
The student majoring in Educational Technology and Curriculum UNESA explained that the name for the application was based on three groups that were the main targets of the application service, namely people with disabilities, the elderly and toddlers.
“The goal is only to help the community meet the needs of a safe and comfortable haircut. Then, to help MSMEs, hair shaving service providers, to continue to survive and develop during the pandemic, of course with strict procedures," he said.
In terms of service quality, the startup has an MoU with partners, which must provide friendly service, fast response and consultation regarding what hairstyle is most suitable for them and much more.
The application will continue to be developed, even Omah Dilit has collaborated with PT Ruang Digital Kreatif. In the future, they have also designed various strategies to expand the reach of goals and services, such as designing new features, participating in various competitions to increase the usability of the application on an ongoing basis and collaborating with other institutions.
In addition to these services, Omah Dilit also held a haircut training program for the community. "The training is directly at their home, and later they can cut their family members' hair and don't need to leave the house, it's safer from exposure to Covid-19," he explained. Thanks to this brilliant idea, the five students managed to get several awards, including the 2020 Entrepreneurial Student Program and the 2021 Indonesian Student Startup Acceleration. #KreasiBersamaUnesa.
