Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-In order to improve the ability of teachers and students of SMK in utilizing software for learning and learning needs, a team of lecturers from the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held training on building structure modeling using SAP 2000 software for teachers and students of SMK Building Engineering in Ngraho, Bojonegoro Regency.
SAP2000 is a software that is widely used in analyzing construction structures. Thanks to Cipta Zega, S.Pd., M.Eng., the chief executive stated that the training was held for three days, 27-29 October 2021 at SMKN Ngraho, Bojonegoro. The training, he continued, was based on the needs of teachers and vocational students in the field.
According to him, the school does not yet have a SAP 2000-based learning module or tutorial. The school hopes that the modules are in accordance with the curriculum taught at SMKN Ngraho, namely simple building modeling which includes plates, beams, columns, and building foundations so that learning targets can be achieved and can be carried out. online and offline face-to-face in class when learning has reopened normally, taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic situation while still implementing health protocols.
In addition, teachers carry out learning using the SAP2000 program only to the extent of the knowledge gained when they were in lectures, while now the SAP2000 program has undergone the latest update, Version 22, which has a more attractive appearance, more menu choices and more detailed modeling results.
The teachers have indeed tried to learn self-taught using tutorial videos on Youtube. However, they still have difficulties because they are not taught directly. Teachers and students are not proficient in using the latest version of the SAP2000 program so they cannot use it optimally when learning, especially in building planning analysis modeling from the upper structure to the lower structure.
The training was packaged in the form of delivering theory and direct practice. At the first meeting, participants received material about the introduction of the SAP2000 software in general and its use. At the second meeting, the practice started from the installation stage to the simulation of construction structure modeling. Then on the third day of advanced practice of modeling construction structures.
It is said that thanks to Cipta Zega, he and his team consisting of Drs. Hasan Dani, MT, Arik Triarso, S.Pd., MT., and Anggi Rahmad Zulfikar, ST, MT., not only provide training, but also create modules or tutorials on structural modeling steps using SAP2000, perform simulations and training in an automated manner. directly using computers to teachers and students, and providing examples of high-rise building plans then modeling in SAP2000.
With the training, he hopes, both schools and teachers and students will understand and be more proficient in using SAP2000 to improve learning effectiveness both in the classroom and at home. In addition, the learning and learning process in schools becomes more interesting and varied through a variety of alternative software that can be utilized.
