"75 LPTKs are ready to improve the quality of Indonesian teachers," he said.
The PPG organizing forum itself was initiated as one of the efforts for better cooperation between PPG LPTKs, LPTKs with the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as between regional governments and partner institutions.
Prof. Dr. H. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd. UNESA's Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs stated that this activity was very important in introspecting to improve the quality of teachers in Indonesia. What has been obtained by PPG graduates is in accordance with the demands of the educational environment and in accordance with the needs of the community.
The changes that occur, he continued, have an impact on shifting needs and demands, so that each program also needs an update on what is needed by teachers in the field. "Hopefully the meeting in the next few days can formulate and have a positive impact for ministries, universities, teachers and the community," he hoped.
In his speech, Dr. Praptono, M.Ed Director of School Principals, School Supervisors and Education Personnel, Kemendikbudristek who attended virtually expressed appreciation and gratitude to the national committee for the efforts made in advancing the national PPG.
According to him, efforts to improve the quality of teachers cannot be separated from the welfare of teachers. He continued, there were several achievements that PPG succeeded in achieving in its 2021 position, including extraordinary achievements in producing the largest PPG targets, compared to previous years. "Until 2024 we have to produce 200 thousand teachers in positions," he said.
Praptono also conveyed three things that would be the focus of PPG in the future, namely the need to strengthen models and various learning tools in order to equip teachers to be more professional and competent in problem-based learning. Then, in line with the existence of independent learning, with the existence of a new paradigm curriculum, it is also necessary to reduce the barriers between subjects.
Furthermore, he also said that PPG organizers are expected to develop facilities or spaces as needed, so that each PPG has its own color. "It is hoped that graduates will not just pass, but have certain advantages and that is important," he concluded.
Temu Ismail, S.Pd., M.Sc., as the acting Director of Teacher Professional Education said that there must be collaboration and cooperation to advance the PPG program in the future. "Responsibility in professional education, not only in positions, because in the future there will be a new PPG model with a target of 200 thousand, of course it is not easy," he said.
PPG has become the center of improving the quality of teachers in Indonesia. LPTKs work together with local governments to improve the quality of teachers in the regions. So that teachers can be facilitated to improve their competence in learning in accordance with the demands of the times.
On this occasion, present Prof. Dr. H. Muchlas Samani, M.Pd., who had the opportunity to convey various things related to the evaluation of the implementation of PPG in Indonesia. Then there is also Dr. Elvira, S.H., M.H., who discussed the PPG policy for 2022.
Prof. Muchlas Samani expressed his views on teacher certification. According to him, many teachers have not been certified. It is not entirely the fault of the organizers, but there are other factors such as finances that influence teachers to move forward towards PPG.
"There are 6 PPGs that we have passed, which ones are good, which ones must be studied," he said. He also emphasized that experienced LPTKs are expected to be able to design curriculum based on past experiences. "We need a curriculum design that is tailored to the advantages of each university," he said. [has/zam*]
