Talkshow on Getting Rid of the Bondage of Drugs followed by students from around the State University of Surabaya.
Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—UNESA's Crisis Center Mitigation Center (SMCC) Sub-directorate in collaboration with the East Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) held a talk show entitled "How to Escape the Bondage of Drugs" in commemoration of Anti-Drug Day on Friday, 14 June 2024 at the UNESA LPSP Building.
Apart from the talk show, SMCC also held urine tests as part of this commemoration, with the aim of increasing awareness and early detection of drug abuse.
This event was opened by Prof. Dr. Mutimmatul Faidah, S.Ag., M.Ag., Director of UNESA PPIS, who emphasized the importance of this event in preventing and controlling drugs among UNESA students and education staff (tendik).
"This event is not only to commemorate Anti-Drug Day, but also as our real effort to protect the younger generation from the threat of drugs," said Prof Mutim (his nickname). In this series of events, Prof. Mutim also launched a new student activity unit, namely UKM ANKASA (Anti-Drug and Student Counselor) UNESA.
UKM ANKASA is expected to become a forum for students to get support and counseling in staying away from drugs.
At the talk show session, there were two speakers present, namely, Masduki S.H., M.H., Head of the Community Prevention and Empowerment Team, East Java BNNP, and Drs. Fatkur Rohman Kafrawi, M.Pd., Chair of the UNESA Teacher Professional Program Board (BPPG).
Masduki provided various tips and strategies to stay away from drugs and explained BNN programs in preventing and handling drug abuse. He also emphasized the important role of the family and environment in supporting drug prevention efforts.
Fatkur Rohman Kafrawi, emphasized the importance of exercise and positive activities as one of the best ways to avoid drugs. "By exercising and engaging in positive activities, students can divert attention from negative things and build a healthier and more productive life," he said.
He also shared success stories about former addicts who managed to recover and return to normal life thanks to strong support from family and community.
Invoice of Rohman Kafrawi , the talk show speaker emphasized the importance of building life expectancy, a clean and healthy anti-drug lifestyle.
In addition to talk shows , this event also includes an interactive discussion and question and answer session, where participants can discuss directly with resource persons and get further information regarding drug prevention and handling efforts.
"We want to ensure that the UNESA campus environment is free from drugs and that all campus residents can study and work safely and healthily," said Prof. Mutim.
The main aim of this event is to prevent UNESA students and staff from getting caught in narcotics, to map the potential for drugs to appear on campus, and to provide treatment and rehabilitation for those who need it.
"We hope that UNESA can become a rehabilitation campus for drug addicts, not only internally but also externally. We want to embrace drug addicts, because they actually need a strong support system to recover and return to society, " added Prof. Mutim.
This event ended with a declaration of commitment from all participants to stay away from drugs and support drug prevention and rehabilitation efforts in the campus environment.
It is hoped that this declaration will be the first step in creating a campus environment that is free from drugs and supports the health and welfare of all UNESA campus residents.[]
