Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Registration for UTBK-SBMPTN has been opened from March 23 to April 15 2022. This route can also be followed by participants who have not passed the SNMPTN pathway. One of the stages in registering this pathway is that participants must choose a study program (Prodi). So, therefore, for prospective registrants who are confused about choosing a study program, it is better to pay attention to the following tips plus tips for conquering UTBK.
1. Know Yourself
Dr. Retno Tri Hariastuti, M.Pd., Head of the UNESA Counseling Guidance Study Program, explained that understanding oneself and one's potential is important before deciding what major or study program to choose. In this section there are several things that need to be identified. Mainly interests and talents.
“Try asking yourself, what is our favorite activity or hobby so far? What are we usually proficient in? Then, what profession or work will we like the most?” he said at UVCE last week.
If you feel like writing or design, choose a major or study program related to writing or design. If you feel happy and have the ability to public speaking and appear in public, take a major that is linear with it. If you like sports, have sports skills and want a career in sports, sports study programs can be a place to anchor.
2. Suggestion of People Near You
Then, if you still have doubts about your own potential and talent. Try asking for advice or input from your parents or loved ones. You can also discuss with the teacher. This can help.
3. Study Program Identification
After understanding one's potential, continued Retno Tri Hariastuti, the next step is to find out which study programs are related to the potential participants and what is learned in the study program. If participants have the ability, interest and want to have a career in sports, about which study program is related to sports. For example, at UNESA there are S-1 Sports Science study programs, S-1 Sports Coaching Education programs, and S-1 Physical Education, Health and Recreation programs. In addition to these study programs, UNESA has 71 other study programs (a total of 74 study programs) that are sheltered in 7 faculties.
"Don't just think about how to pass in certain study programs, but also think about the process of studying, graduating and after graduation," he said.
4. Study Program Strictness Research
Make a list of study programs related to your abilities, interests and future career. Then the next step is to research the tightness of the study programs to find out the level of competition between the study programs in the list of choices and adjust them according to their abilities. Usually, study programs with medium or low tightness have a greater chance of passing.
Dr. Sukarmin, M.Pd., Head of the UNESA Admissions Unit explained, looking at the 2022 SNMPTN pathway, the 10 study programs with the highest specialization at UNESA are; S-1 Management, S-1 Elementary School Teacher Education, S-1 Psychology, S-1 Nutrition, S-1 Communication Science, S-1 Law, S-1 Accounting, S-1 Public Administration, S-1 Digital Business and S-1 Office Administration Education. To find out the competition for study programs at UNESA, go to the website, admisi.unesa.ac.id.
5. UTBK Test Type Analysis
After determining the study program, participants must also analyze the type of test that will be tested in the UTBK. This can make it easier to study and answer exam questions. The types of tests in question are:
- Scholastic potential test (TPS). This test covers general reasoning skills, quantitative skills including mastery of basic Mathematics, general knowledge and comprehension as well as reading and writing comprehension skills.
- English proficiency test. This test aims to measure English language skills that support learning in higher education.
- Academic ability test (TKA) which aims to measure knowledge and understanding of science taught (subjects) in schools and is needed for higher education. This test emphasizes higher order thinking skills (HOTS).
6. Pay Attention to Portfolio
Participants also need to pay attention to the uploaded portfolio. It's a good idea to upload a portfolio related to the selected study program. There are 10 types of portfolios that can be uploaded when registering for UTBK; Sport; Fine Arts, Design, and Crafts; Dance (including Ballet or Performing Arts Dance options); Theater (including Ballet or Performing Arts Theater or Drama); Music (including the Ballet or Performing Arts Music option); Musical Arts; Ethnomusicology; Photography; Film and Television; and the Art of Puppeting.
7. Understand the UTBK Exam Group
The test group on the UTBK is divided into three:
- Science and Technology (Saintek) exam group with TPS, English and TKA science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) exam materials. Time allocation 195 minutes.
- The Social and Humanities (Soshum) exam group with TPS, English and TKA Soshum exam materials (Geography, History, Sociology, and Economics). Time allocation 195 minutes.
- Mixed test group (Science and Social Sciences) with TPS, English, Science and Technology TKA and Soshum test materials. Time allocation 285 minutes.
8. Learn Previous Questions
As practice material, participants can learn the types of test questions from previous years. You can study alone or in groups, or with a tutor. The more you learn and practice, the easier it will be for participants to answer UTBK questions.
So that the preparation is not in vain. Participants need to pay attention to all the important stages and dates on the SBMPTN registration page or on the LTMPT page, ltmpt.ac.id. Complete the stages according to the procedure and finish quickly. Thus, tips that can be a reference for participants in registering and participating in the 2022 UTBK-SBMPTN. Happy learning and trying, hopefully the results will be maximum. [UNESA PR]
