Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—In the Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB), the Faculty of Law (FH) Surabaya State University (UNESA), presented a number of resource persons from various circles to provide motivation and insight into the challenges and opportunities of the digital era to new students.
One of those presented was Teofilus Hartono, CEO of Mr. Suprek. He emphasized the importance of combining world-class competence with a deep understanding of cultural roots and local communities.
According to him, to achieve world-class competence, one must first find the right ecosystem. A supportive ecosystem, both in terms of work environment, company culture and social networks, is the key to forming competitive individuals at the global level.
Apart from the ecosystem, he also highlights the importance of having a clear goal or purpose. Everyone must have strong dreams, targets and goals as the foundation of all the efforts they make. "Having a clear goal is the first step to achieving success, both personally and professionally," he emphasized.
Theophilus also emphasized the importance of commitment and consistency in the process towards that goal. There are no shortcuts to achieving success. Consistency in carrying out the process, commitment to goals, and perseverance are elements that must always be maintained. He emphasized that success is the result of continuous struggle.
The Gadjah Mada University alumnus also shared the philosophy of "ikigai," which means a reason for living or life's purpose. Ikigai combines what is loved, what the world needs, what can be paid for, and what we are good at.
“Finding ikigai is the key to achieving a balance between world-class competence and understanding cultural roots. "With ikigai, we can remain connected to our roots while continuing to develop into competitive individuals at the global level," he concluded.
Irfa Ronaboyd, in his presentation about higher education in the digital era and industry 4.0, explained that the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has brought major changes. This era was marked by the dominance of digital technology, automation and data integration which not only affected the industrial sector but also the higher education sector.
One of the significant impacts of this revolution was the increase in educational accessibility. In the past, higher education was often limited to those who could be physically present on campus. However, with the rise of e-learning, online courses and distance learning platforms, more people around the world now have access to higher education.
In addition, Irfa highlighted the importance of personalization in learning in the digital era. Digital technology allows for a more personalized and adaptive approach to learning. With an adaptive learning system, each student can receive recommendations tailored to their needs.
"Personalized learning is the key to creating a more effective and relevant learning experience," he added.
However, he also reminded the importance of ethics and responsibility in the use of technology in educational environments. In the digital era we must be very careful with how data is used, how information is disseminated, and how to maintain trust in the digital environment.
Ethics in the use of digital technology is a crucial aspect that must be integrated into every aspect of higher education to ensure that digital transformation is not only effective but also responsible.
Arinto Nugroho, Dean of FH, emphasized the importance of students being active and collaborative individuals, especially in utilizing technology.
In the digital era Nowadays, students are not only expected to master academic material, but also must be able to integrate technology in every aspect of their activities.
"This ability is very important to increase learning effectiveness and facilitate communication and collaboration in various academic projects and organization," he explained.[]
