Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–Good news came from the Community Alliance Team Against Sexual Bullying and Violence (Aman Kesal). The team from the UNESA Ballet Department representing the East Java Regional Police won first place in the National Police Chief's Cup Demonstration Oration Competition held by the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on December 10, 2021. The competition was to commemorate Human Rights Day 2021.
Through the packaging of the oration and the choice of issues raised, the team consisting of 13 students won 3,458 points from the jury and defeated teams from other provinces in the Grand Final round. They received an award in the form of the National Police Chief Trophy, a motorbike and a door prize worth Rp175 million which was handed over directly by the National Police Chief, Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc. They also received an appreciation from the East Java Police Chief in the form of money worth Rp. 50 million.
The National Police Chief appreciated the performance of the entire team who gave speeches at the Proclamation Monument, Jakarta. “Everything is fine. Until the jury is confused to determine which is the best," he said. He continued, the competition is one way to commemorate Human Rights Day. It means indirectly to uphold human rights in Indonesia. In addition, in a democratic system, expressing appreciation and protest is important. However, the delivery methods must also be considered so as not to cause damage, either to the protesters or to the police.
In the competition, participants indirectly educate the public on how to make effective speeches. While on the other hand, officers as guards during the action can also understand how to position themselves when dealing with demonstration activities in the field. "According to the regulations, if there are demonstrations taking place, it is the obligation of members of the National Police to ensure that the implementation of the delivery of opinions in public is carried out properly," he said.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Lecturer of the Angry Safe Team, Arif Hidajat, S.Sn., M.Pd., was touched by the achievements of his students. Because, the preparation was fairly short and immediately confidently participated in the same competition at the East Java Regional Police level. From the start, although it was a bit sudden, they didn't want to appear ordinary. However, it must appear impressive with a touch of different issues. The packaging of the oration is combined with mime, theater and humanoid action.
In addition, the issues raised are those that are currently hot in cyberspace; sexual harassment and violence. It is reflected in the team name and the narrative of the speeches presented. "The selection of issues was not arbitrary, but through various considerations and the team's vision and mission to participate in the competition," explained the man who is in charge of the Drama course.
The AMAN KESAL team is a representative of the East Java Regional Police. In the same competition on December 5, 2021 at the East Java Police Headquarters, Aman Disappointed came out as the first winner and eliminated dozens of other teams. Syina, one of the team members explained that the biggest motivation for participating in the competition was as a 'theater worship'.
In addition, I want to experience good and effective speeches and demonstrations. Through their actions and speeches, they conveyed messages about conditions that must be considered together, namely cases of bullying and sexual violence that have recently occurred. According to him, orations are not merely playing with words, but can also convey messages through various actions and 'performances'. Effective action does not always smell physical, let alone anarchy.
We want to show alternative ways of giving speeches and demonstrations and how to convey good and ethical aspirations. One of them is the packaging that we show in this competition,” he said. "With the support of all parties, the East Java Regional Police, the UNESA Sendratasik department and all of them, we were finally able to achieve the target of becoming 1st champion at the national level. Hopefully it will be a motivation for us and others," he concluded. [UNESA PR]
