Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–Representatives of the Australian Embassy in Surabaya paid a visit to the UPT Office of the Language Center of the State University of Surabaya (Pusba UNESA) on Thursday, December 9, 2021. The diplomats were greeted directly by the Head of the UPT Language Center, Drs. Suwarno Imam Samsul, M.Pd., and Secretary Dr. Roni, M. Hum., M.A and their staff at UNESA Ketintang Campus.
One of the representatives, Tandas Yuliani Arifin, stated that the purpose of the visit was to build friendships and collaborate in an effort to improve the quality of mastery of the Indonesian language for diplomats serving in Indonesia, including in Surabaya. "So that the representatives on duty here (Indonesia, ed) can be more proficient in speaking Indonesian properly and correctly in supporting the duties of the embassy," he said.
Previously, the Australian Consulate General had participated in the basic level BIPA program online and offline in Yogyakarta. However, the training was deemed less than optimal and there needs to be further improvement in UNESA's programs.
Suwarno Imam Samsul said that the UNESA BIPA (Foreign Indonesian Speaker) program was very progressive and well accommodated, and adapted to such dynamic conditions. Therefore, it can be adjusted to the needs of HR who are experienced in their fields.
On that occasion, both parties discussed and exchanged experiences. The team from the Australian Embassy also had the opportunity to explore all Pusba facilities and infrastructure as well as various programs and achievements in recent years. In the future, both parties plan to follow up on the results of these discussions which will lead to opportunities for cooperation. [UNESA PR]
