Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-Eid al-Adha is a moment to share and spread positive energy and enthusiasm to others. Moreover, this year's Feast of Sacrifice coincides with the implementation of the emergency PPKM, of course the spirit of sharing and empathy must be further encouraged. One way that UNESA does is to sacrifice animals for people in need.
On this Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijriah, UNESA sacrificed two cows and one goat. According to government policy, the slaughter of the animals was carried out at the Latif Jaya Butcher's Slaughterhouse (RPH), Kandangan, Cerme District, Gresik, on Thursday (22/7/2021). The cutting process was attended by UNESA leaders.
UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes said that the sacrificial meat was handed over to people in need, especially those who were badly affected by the emergency PPKM around Unesa Lidah Wetan and Unesa Ketintang campus. The distribution of sacrificial meat also targets foundations around Lidah Kulon and residents of five UNESA assisted villages located in Bungah District, Gresik. "Beyond that, we share it for internal UNESA and security, cleaning and other officers," he explained.
According to Prof. Nurhasan, sacrificing has many virtues. People who previously rarely consumed meat could enjoy it with their families at home with joy. Foods that have a lot of intake, such as mutton and beef, are really needed by the community during a pandemic situation like this.
Then can strengthen the ties of brotherhood and share happiness with others. "Between the giver and the recipient of the sacrificial meat there is a smile etched on it, there are also thanks and quiet prayers," said the man who is usually called Cak Hasan. “Most importantly, sacrifice has the meaning of empathy and brotherhood. It also means spreading the spirit of sharing with others," he continued.
If the spirit of sharing has been massively promoted, he continued, of course there will no longer be people who are sick or feel cramped, because everywhere there is always a caring heart. "With the spirit of sharing, empathizing and collaborating, we will be able to overcome this difficult situation and pandemic," he said firmly. After the slaughter, the sacrificial meat was immediately distributed by the UNESA Islamic Spiritual Activity Unit (UKKI) and UNESA religious achievement students under the coordinator Doni Setyawan, the head of UKKI.
