Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Center for Disability Studies and Services at the State University of Surabaya (PSLD UNESA) held a Disability Talent Challenge which was attended by around 100 participants throughout Indonesia. The activity was packaged in several stages and the grand final was held on the 3rd Floor, Ciputra World Mall, Surabaya on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
The event which was held to welcome the 2022 Walk for Autism was in collaboration with UNESA PSLD with Dharma Wanita Persatuan Surabaya, JCI East Java, Athalia Blessing, Pertamina Foundation, My America Surabaya and YCPC. The goal is to appreciate the skills of people with disabilities in various fields, such as art, academics, sports, works, the environment and so on.
The event was attended by the Chair of the East Java PKK TP Arumi Bacshin, the Chair of the Surabaya City Association of Women's Dharma, Lis Hendro Gunawan, the Chancellor of the State University of Surabaya Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., Deputy Chancellor for Planning and Cooperation UNESA Dr. Sujarwanto, MPd., Head of UNESA Dharma Wanita H. Endah Purnowati Nurhasan, M Pd., Chair of UNESA PSLD, Prof. Dr. Budiyanto, M.Pd., Head of the S-1 Special Education Study Program, FIP UNESA Dr. Asri Wijiastusi, M.Pd., Local President of JCI Chapter East Java, Philips Pangestus, and the ranks of the heads of the fields.
The Chief Executive, Risky Patria Nevangga, said that the event was attended by approximately 100 participants. Of that number, only the best 11 participants were able to qualify for the grand final. According to him, the event was held for UNESA's commitment which has a center of excellence and innovation in the field of disability to appreciate and motivate people with disabilities to keep working and take part in building the nation and state.
"It is also to raise awareness and change the paradigm of society that views disability as a powerless ability by proving that they have the same achievements and opportunities," he said.
Not only that, Prof. Dr. Darni, M.Hum, Head of LPMM Unesa took part in giving a speech, he said that regarding PSLD as one of the three centers of excellence under the auspices of Unesa, later studies that have been carried out by PSLD in the form of research results will be used to determine policies for persons with disabilities policies and produce products for society. "The agenda of this event has actually been running for 5 years," he explained.
Prof. Dr. Darni, M.Hum., explained that there are three benefits of this activity, namely 1) making the role of Indonesian sons and daughters a platform for action, 2) being an encouragement for people with disabilities to continue to develop themselves and work, 3) increasing public awareness of people with disabilities.
He added that in the competition there were several aspects that became a reference for the jury to find the best, namely, mastery, level of confidence, creativity and level of difficulty based on disability abilities. The winners of the 2022 Disability Talent Challenge are;
5th place was won by Olivia May Zulfida who performed Face Painting online and managed to get a score of 458. In 4th place was won by Muhammad Praditya Arifian Zein who displayed paintings online with a score of 460. a value of 462.
The 2nd place winner, Felicia Candra got 463 points by demonstrating her singing and playing music skills. Meanwhile, Hendro Prasetyo won 1st place with a score of 465 who displayed painting online. Then the favorite winner fell to the name, Pulung Damar Widya Nusa who displayed handicrafts online. [UNESA PR]
