Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—The Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic gold medal winner, Leani Ratri Oktila visited the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), Surabaya State University (UNESA), on Monday, October 22 2024.
Her presence on campus was related to study matters. He also took the time to share his experiences and struggles to achieve proud achievements at the world level with UNESA students and the community.
The PhD student of Physical Education (Penjas), FIKK UNESA expressed her pride in being able to contribute to the nation and state by flying the red and white twice in a row on the podium at world level sports competitions.
At the Paris 2024 Paralympics some time ago, Ratri, who partnered with Hikmat Ramdani in the mixed doubles para-badminton event, apart from contributing the only gold medal for Indonesia, also won a silver medal in the women's singles event.
"It's a blessing to be able to reach this stage. The journey there certainly had many obstacles and sacrifices. In essence, I focused on improving my performance, game strategy, training discipline and continuing to train to the limit of my abilities," he said.
Apart from physical training, he also improved his game strategy a lot in the form of sparring partners with other athletes brought in by the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPCI). The training process is also supported by many parties, including para-badminton clubs.

"For me, the practice must be "Focused and disciplined. Whatever the event, big or small, I always consistently train mentally and physically. Every event requires careful preparation. I don't want to be complacent about achievements, let alone taking the competition for granted," he said. behind his struggles and brilliant achievements, which was none other than to make his parents and extended family proud. His parents were his biggest encouragement to continue to develop and achieve.
"I had an accident in 2011, so my condition was like this down. "However, my parents always supported and encouraged me to develop to reach this level," he explained.
Apart from that, it is also a form of his love for his homeland which encourages him to continue fighting to raise the red and white flag on the international stage. .
"By achieving achievements such as gold medals in world sports competitions, we can raise the flag and sing the national anthem Indonesia Raya which is witnessed by the world community. "That's what makes me proud and moved to the point of tears," said the athlete born in Bangkinang, Riau.
In the sharing session which will also be broadcast on the FIKK YouTube channel, Ratri said that she is currently undertaking her doctoral studies with a scheme prepared by the campus and focused on preparing themselves to welcome various upcoming competitions towards the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.[]
