Unesa.ac.id. , SURABAYA—The academic community of Surabaya State University held a Heroes' Day Ceremony at the Rectorate, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya on Sunday, November 10 2024.
The ceremony which was attended by all levels of leadership and the community around the 'Home of Champions' campus carried the theme "Imitate Your Heroes, Love Your Country." Wiwik Sri Utami, the ceremony supervisor, read a message from the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf.
In this message, the importance of remembering the services of heroes and inspiring the younger generation to continue the struggle to maintain the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia was emphasized. Also conveying the hope that Indonesia can become a strong and prosperous country by 2045.
In an interview after the ceremony, the Chancellor of UNESA, Nurhasan or Cak Hasan, expressed the meaning of Heroes' Day and the importance of the young generation to continue collaborating and adapting to change. era.
"A hero is a figure who has big dreams, is brave and tough. We must be able to realize the dreams of heroes by protecting the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia," said Cak Hasan.
UNESA leadership invites the community to emulate heroes by embodying the spirit of struggle in the work and lecture environment.
Furthermore, Cak Hasan explained that this year's theme is very relevant to the challenges faced by the Indonesian nation in the era of globalization and digitalization.
"In this era, we have to quickly adapt, learn and collaborate, because whoever adapts quickly will be the winner," he added.
Apart from that, during the ceremony this time UNESA is also displaying costumes that reflect the fighting spirit of the heroes.
"This traditional clothing carries the meaning, that being different is beauty and strength. We remain one in the spirit of protecting the Republic of Indonesia," said Cak Hasan, describing the message he wanted to convey in the commemoration.
Cak Hasan invites all parties, including young people and students, to follow in the footsteps of heroes who have made a positive contribution to the journey of the Indonesian nation.
The role of the current generation does not have to be by taking up arms against the invaders, but can be by making a contribution to society, nation and state through their roles and positions. It can be with work, innovation, ideas, etc.
