Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The UNESA Academic Team in collaboration with the Education, Youth and Sports Office of Magetan Regency and SMPN 1 Magetan carried out the Community Service Program (PKM) in the form of Training on Internalization of Pancasila Values for teachers and junior high school principals in 18 sub-districts throughout Magetan Regency. The event was held for two days, namely on 1-2 October 2021 at SMPN 1 Magetan.
On the one hand, this activity is an effort by UNESA with education stakeholders to realize the profile of Pancasila students in Magetan and its surroundings. The Pancasila student profile has six aspects, 1) faith, fear of God Almighty, 2) independent, 3) critical reasoning, 4) global diversity, 5) mutual cooperation, 6) creative. Meanwhile, on the other hand, it is UNESA's commitment to encourage the realization of Pancasila village in East Java. Previously, UNESA had provided training and assistance to Sambong Dukuh Village, Jombang as a pioneering Pancasila village in East Java.
Dr. Hasan Subekti, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the Activity Organizer, stated that the activity originated from the mandate of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture to provide colors and patterns related to fostering and internalizing Pancasila values at the elementary school level. Over time, these activities are also targeting educational institutions at the junior high school level. "The direction will be how our students and schools are colored with the behavior of Pancasila," he said. One of the outputs later, the teachers and principals will write about best practices which will later be published in the form of a book.
Drs. Suwata, M.Si, Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Magetan Regency, stated that teachers are the backbone of educational progress. He continued that the implementation of education in Magetan so far has gone well. However, he admits that at the elementary school level there is still much that needs to be improved. One of them is related to the teacher monitoring and evaluation system.
Therefore, he invites principals and teachers to work together to improve it from the smallest things, such as designing and bringing lesson plans during learning as a reference for implementing learning in the classroom. Currently, his party is trying to build collaborations, including with UNESA to encourage the creation of an interesting, fun and effective learning system and implementation in Magetan based on innovation and technology.
Meanwhile, Titi Sudarti, M.Pd., Principal of SMPN 1 Magetan, assessed that the PKM was very important in improving the quality of education implementation and realizing the profile of Pancasila students in Magetan. “This is also related to freedom of learning and driving schools. The estuary of the Ministry's program is the profile of Pancasila students," he said. He hopes that this activity can provide understanding and deepen the love for the homeland for students, teachers, and principals in Magetan.
In addition to training, the activity also includes mentoring so that it is easier for teachers and school principals to translate the understanding and values of Pancasila into the rules and environment of their respective schools. "Pancasila is related to the value of life. It's very close to character. Ladies and gentlemen, the name of the character cannot be trained once or twice, but must be part of the behavior of everyday life or become a habit,” said Dr. Martadi, M.Sn, one of the presenters as well as the Director of the UNESA Vocational Program.
The activity was attended by the ranks of the UNESA Academic Team, the leadership of the Magetan Regency Education, Youth and Sports Office, teachers and junior high school principals in 18 sub-districts, Magetan Regency, and the ranks of SMPN 1 Magetan. Meanwhile, as a speaker, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs UNESA, Dr. Martadi, M.Sn Director of the UNESA Vocational Program, Sueb, S.Pd., M.Pd., Dr. Hasan Subekti, M.Pd., Head of the Event Organizer, and Dr. Harmanto, M.Pd.
