Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya–The State University of Surabaya held a mass vaccine program of 5,000 quotas for the Unesa academic community and the general public at Graha Unesa, Jl. Citra Raya Unesa, Lidah Wetan, Lakarsantri, Surabaya on Tuesday (03/08/2021).
In addition to vaccination, the event, which is part of the 57th Unesa Anniversary, also provided 500 food packages for the underprivileged, plasma donors, blood donors and provided oxygen tubes plus oxygen at affordable prices. In addition to the general public, Gojek drivers also receive vaccine quotas as well as food packages.
Governor of East Java, Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Si, Military Commander V/Brawijaya Major General TNI Suharyanto, S.Sos., M.M, East Java Police Chief Inspector General. Pol. Dr. Nico Afinta, S.I.K., S.H., MH., and the Head of the East Java High Court, Dr. Mohamad Dofir, SH., MH, and the Regional Secretary of East Java Province, Dr. Ir. Heru Tjahjono, M.M was also present to monitor the vaccination. In addition, there is also the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, S.T., M.T, Boy Arno Muhammad, Head of Government Relations of Gojek in the Java Bali area, and all levels of Unesa leadership.
On that occasion Khofifah Indar Parawansa appreciated the implementation of the mass vaccine event and various assistances for the community. According to him, the vaccine can help the government, which is promoting the acceleration of the vaccination program and minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in the community. "This is part of our joint effort so that the people of East Java and Indonesia in general can be healthy and can quickly be free from the dangers of the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.
He also appreciated the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the people of East Java to get the vaccine. Until now, he continued, there have been around 7.8 million residents of East Java who received the first dose of vaccine injection. Of that number, about 4.2 million people are due to get a second dose of the vaccine. In the near future, the East Java Provincial Government plans to provide another 5,000 doses of vaccine for Unesa. "We have coordinated with the Ministry of Health, if the vaccine is ready, then we request it to be rushed to get the second dose of vaccine dropping, which today our needs reach 4.2 million people," he said.
Unesa Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan., M.Kes., said that the quota for the mass vaccine is 5,000 people. Of that quota, 2,000 quotas are for the general public including Gojek drivers who also get 250 quotas and 3,000 other quotas for Unesa students and academics. He added, due to the high enthusiasm of the community, Unesa also had time to open another quota for 150 people. “We socialized it and in less than two hours, the quota was immediately full of registrants. This is extraordinary," he said.
He continued that the vaccine program was in collaboration with the UNESA Crisis Center Mitigation Unit (SMCC) with many parties, starting from the East Java Provincial Government, the Surabaya City Government, to hospitals in Surabaya and Puskesmas. "Hopefully our joint efforts can help the government in cutting the chain of transmission of Covid-19 in the community and achieve the expected immunity together," he said.
He appealed, even though they have followed the first or second dose of vaccine, people must continue to apply health protocols, practice a clean and healthy lifestyle, and exercise healthy and happy on a regular basis. "Anyway, take the vaccine and share it with increased immunity and faith, so that we are all safe and secure," he said. (Has/zam)
