Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA-STIKES William Booth collaborated with the UPT Language Center (Pusba) of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) to conduct training and English tests. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday, 27 May 2022 at the Pusba Office, Ketintang Campus.
The purpose of this collaboration is to improve the implementation of the tridharma of higher education at STIKE and at UNESA. In addition, to improve the quality of mastery of foreign languages, especially English for STIKES students. One of the directions will be holding training and English tests. “This is part of an effort to improve the quality of graduates. English language skills are very much needed in supporting the competence and profession of graduate nurses," said Siska Christianingsih, a lecturer at STIKES William Booth.
Siska revealed that the reason for choosing the UNESA Language Center, especially English, was because she saw that UNESA is a university that has English Language and Literature study programs and has long experience and competence in linguistics, including English. Moreover, it has been trusted by other institutions.
The lecture system at STIKES William Booth for 4 years 80% of which is filled with learning academic theories and the remaining 20% ��is filled with community service (practice) in health centers, general hospitals, mental hospitals, and homes for the elderly. Nurses are not only required to be able to master nursing science, but also English. "After the implementation of the community service (practice) then we (professional students) will get the nursing profession title," added Siska.

Head of the UNESA Pusba, Drs. Suwarno Imam Syamsul, M.Pd., welcomed the collaboration. His party appreciates William Booth's STIKES steps that continue to improve the quality of graduates, one of which is through training and English language tests. For him, English has become a competency demand of this century. “Graduates who have foreign language skills certainly have more value than those who do not. Moreover, what conditions are now required to use a certificate or proof of an English test," he said.
