Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Elementary School Education Study Program (PGSD) Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) held a series of six PGSD webinar with the theme "Blended Learning in Javanese Language Learning in Elementary Schools" on Friday, September 24, 2021. A total of 200 participants from students and elementary school teachers participated in the webinar. . Dr. Heru Subrata, M.Sc., as a PGSD FIP UNESA Lecturer was present as a presenter.
Drs. Mintohari, M.Pd., Head of the UNESA PGSD Study Program expressed his appreciation for holding the event. According to him, Javanese language learning must be designed using blended learning. In addition to the demands for limited and gradual face-to-face learning (TMTB), it is also important for the development of Javanese language learning models in the future. "The acceleration of the use of communication and digital technology in education makes us also have to adjust our competencies in that direction (blenden learning, ed)," he said.
Opening his presentation, Dr. Heru Subrata, M.Sc., first read the song Dhandhanggula. Then proceed with the presentation of material on 'Javanese Language Learning in Elementary Schools in the Information Technology Age: Blended Learning as a Solution?
He said that the challenges faced in learning Javanese in the era of information technology, namely global challenges, policy and curriculum challenges, and human resource challenges. Of all these challenges, both teachers, students, and parents must be prepared to face an increasingly advanced era with all its consequences. "Well, to face these challenges, we need to prepare strategies, approaches, methods, techniques, and models that are in accordance with the times," he said.
He explained, there are several platforms that support the application of blended learning in learning Javanese in elementary schools, namely, there is a web course model, a web centric course model, and a web enhanced course model. Schools can choose from a variety of models according to their individual needs and abilities. "The most important thing is that face-to-face and online learning can run smoothly by preparing web links related to the learning," he said.
The scope of Javanese language teaching materials in elementary schools is in the form of listening to ngoko and innocent Javanese, reading Javanese and Latin writing, speaking Javanese ngoko and krama, writing in Javanese and Latin writing, and appreciating literature in written and oral form.
For these discussion needs, teachers can take advantage of Javanese language applications available on various platforms, such as Javanese Language Dictionary, Javanese Script, Javanese Script Warrior, Haname Learning Javanese Script, Javanese Translator, Suraja Game, Kumusku: Javanese (Indonesian), Learning Languages Java, and Pepak Learn Javanese Language. “Keep using Javanese when teaching, enrich it with simple strategies such as mastery of reading songs. Then enter the world of information as well as possible, always experimenting, creative, and innovative and have the spirit to be a role model for all," he said. (Esti/zam)
