Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—Concrete steps to strengthen international recognition are being intensively taken by UNESA Labschool through its various superior programs. One of them is the sister school program which has succeeded in sending a number of students to study in a number of countries.
Most recently, the UNESA Labschool Institute sent 10 students to undergo an exchange program in Australia, on Saturday, November 1 2024. They consist of 6 junior high school students and 4 high school students from UNESA Labschool.
The students, accompanied by three accompanying teachers, were released by the leadership of the institution along with a number of Labschool teachers at Terminal 2 of Juanda Airport.
Director of the UNESA Labschool Institute , Sujarwanto said that the sister school program aimed at Australia was the first of its kind. Previously, this program had sent students to a number of countries such as Malaysia and Thailand.
"We have sent students several times to Malaysia and Thailand. We have developed this program, and this is the first batch to Australia," said the professor of special education management.

The departing students have been equipped with English language skills, which makes it easier for them to carry out activities smoothly while in Kangaroo Country.
Approximately 1 week there, students will undergo a series of learning activities, such as social study in a number of places, discussions or FGDs about education at Newcastle University of Sydney, and exploration of Australian culture.
He hopes that this program will be an opportunity to improve foreign language skills, and provide students with global experience and insight.
"We encourage them to build international discussions and networks with pupils, students and even lecturers at Newcastle University. That way, they can continue to be involved in international conversations and open up scholarship opportunities," he said.Chairman of the UNESA DWP , Endah Purnomowati Nurhasan appreciated the implementation of this activity. According to him, this activity is very important to increase the recognition of UNESA Labschool towards becoming an international standard school.
"International reputation can be achieved by students being involved in academic activities in various countries, which can later encourage them to achieve achievements at the international level. "To my children, make the best use of this opportunity to gain more experience and insight," he said.

Alecia Anabel, one of the students SMA expressed their enthusiasm for undergoing the program. According to him, this is important to build his confidence in global conversations.
"For this activity I have been preparing for the last few months, especially regarding my English language skills. This program will be a motivation to pursue education abroad, especially in Australia," said Alecia.
The accompanying teacher, Dimas Avian Maulana said that this program is the result of collaboration between UNESA Labschool and the University of Newcastle.
"We provide enrichment in English and "cultural knowledge before departure. This is so that they will be more prepared and confident while in Australia," he said.
It is hoped that this program will continue and more students will have the opportunity to take part in sister school activities in the future.
One of the student's parents, Eri Yudha, expressed his joy at his child's participation in the international student exchange program.
"I really support it, because this program provides experiences that cannot be obtained at other institutions. "My hope is that with this, my child will be more familiar with the outside world, technology, and get a clear picture of his future," he concluded.[*]
