SURABAYA—Having a dream of studying abroad, English Literature Undergraduate Study Program student Irene Carol Christabel continues to struggle to be able to study on the European Continent. After not passing the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), the woman who is familiarly called Irene managed to prove herself to have passed the IISMA-Co program at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia.
" "It felt like my competitive spirit was being challenged, and finally about two months after that there was information about IISMA-CO and I tried to register," he said.
Not wanting to repeat the same incident, Irene learned to write essays and improve her proficiency test results. the English of. Writing essays is tiring for him. Even so, this woman, whose family is nicknamed Ine, always consults with previous IISMA awardees.
Apart from that, she also uses tips she gets on YouTube or Instagram to improve her essays. “I often watch YouTube when I want to prepare for the English test. I just feel more comfortable and relaxed." he said.
Receiving information that she had successfully passed IISMA-CO to Russia, Irene was happy and confused at the same time. Not without reason, the requirements for re-registration are quite numerous and strict, especially regarding the health aspect.
“There are several health test results that need to be submitted, six of them, one of which is an HIV test. "So during KKN, I had to go back and forth to the hospital for medical tests," said Irene when describing the four months she spent during KKN.
This student who currently lives in Jombang dreams of becoming a diplomat. According to her, one of the right ways to introduce herself to the world is journalistic skills.
There Irene will learn about linguistic features of media communication, theories and studies of mass communication, current issues of mass media, and contemporary Russian culture in global context.
Irene wants to become a journalist, because the field she will study there is related to linguistics and communication.
He wants Become a journalist who is aware of current issues. Apart from that, according to him, writing activities carried out by a journalist will train his ability to communicate with other people through writing.
Previously, he was a quiet child and was not interested in communicating with many people. However, after entering high school, Irene became interested in taking part in keroncong extracurriculars which succeeded in making her an active person who speaks.
Since then she has felt the fun of communicating with many people. "At first I thought that the conversation wasn't clear, but it just felt like it was fun, that's where I started to enjoy chatting with people," he said.
Since registering at IISMA-Co, Irene realized that she had to think about the cost. that must be borne while studying abroad. This is also the reason that made him look at Russia as a destination country.
Apart from being a country that stands on two continents, Eurasia, according to him, the cost of living there is still affordable for him.
The son of his father who works as a bank employee and his mother, who is a company manager in Surabaya, admitted that his parents were capable and agreed to finance him. "If you want to choose, it's good to discuss it with your parents, so that it goes smoothly in the future," he said.
This student who is active in the religious and music community on campus invites other friends to try their luck at the opportunity study to explore her potential more deeply.
This woman, whose hobbies are singing and playing the guitar, still can't believe that with her grades which are said to be close to the minimum requirements, this can take her to study in the Land of the Red Bear. He will leave there on September 9 2024.
