Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA-Mental health training titled ‘Self-Improvement and Self-Love Training’ initiated by the Directorate of Prevention and Management of Strategic Issues (PPIS), Surabaya State University (Unesa) targeted students at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) on Wednesday, April 13, 2025.

In the material session, Wiryo Nuryono, Kasubdit Mitigation Crisis Center, DPPIS Unesa said that lately mental health problems among teenagers are increasing. There is a lot of external pressure and influence that can affect their mental health.
In order to anticipate that students do not experience mental health problems, PPIS launches a series of mental health programs targeting students in all faculties, this activity is one of them.
Wiryo added, students sometimes face the dynamics of family, friends, to academics that could have the potential to be mental pressure. For this reason, students must have the ability to process emotions.
When there are problems, can process emotions by giving positive affirmations to themselves while tapping the face area of at least 5 minutes. This method is intended to fight negative thoughts that continue to emerge about the sadness that is being experienced. Done by relaxing the body in the most comfortable place. Then imagine being discharged the problem.
The process of disposal or release the problem can be done by imagining that the problem is being discharged into a trash or burning bin.
This second technique has the meaning that the problem that occurs in the mind must be discharged through the mind. In Mindfulness training, Ribka Mutiara Simatupang, Psychology Lecturer in Psychology Unesa delivered about the importance Mindfulness Focus, to improve sleep quality,
mindfulness can be done in daily life such as meditation, yoga, washing dishes, brushing teeth, driving while listening to music and other activities carried out with relax and focus. Mindfulness training , counselor training, and others. Purpose To equip students with strong abilities, mentality, and character. []
