Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Indonesian Literature undergraduate students class of 2021, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a drama performance "Panggung Eunoia" on Monday, December 11 2023 at the Sawunggaling Performance Hall , UNESA Lidah Wetan.
In it there are two drama scripts being performed. The first manuscript was entitled "New Mankind" by Sanoesi Pane which was then adapted by manuscript editors namely Dewanda Tri Puspita and Dewanti Sri Rejeki.
Set in 1940, the manuscript tells the story of people with old-fashioned thinking who are involved in conflicts over religion, customs and arranged marriages.
Other problems show that patriarchal groups dominate most of the work in office spaces and very few women take part or fill several positions in companies.
< p>Apart from that, in the middle of the story there is the problem of weaving factory workers demonstrating to demand an increase in wages and reducing working hours which are too heavy.Until a situation causes the son of the weaving factory boss, Saraswati, to fall. love with an activist named Das who is a pioneer in every demonstration held. His thoughts about revolutionary change amazed Saraswati and made her pay more attention.
However, Saraswati's gesture of love for Das was detected by her father. As a respected and wealthy boss, he certainly did not approve of this relationship. Moreover, Saraswati had been betrothed to Gopal, a very rich man who was the son of her father's business friend.
In the end, the carriage headed by the activist received support from several parties and agencies in the form of hundreds of guilders to finance her demonstration.
p>The weaving factory also made peace with the group of workers led by activists. The agreement states the availability of increasing wages by 0.5% and reducing working hours.
"What we want to convey from the appearance of this text is that the labor polemic from the past until now is still the same and complex, between wages and reduction in working hours," said Prismacintya, the director.

Then the second manuscript is entitled "AUT" by Putu Wijaya, which was then edited by Diningtiyas Resti Utami and Rachmaddani Rizki Saputra.
Set in 1995 , a regional security post staffed by four officers received various strange and ridiculous reports.
The report included a husband and wife who revealed that their six month old baby had suddenly disappeared in the womb. Then there was a man named Pak Cung who lost the video, and a young man named Inong who was reported by his neighbors for having eaten a whole coconut tree from the tips of the leaves to the roots. In a different case, Inong also reported that her life was lost due to suicide.
Then another report came from a mother selling rice who found five human babies in a cardboard box in front of her shop. Not long after, two young women named Lastri and Jenar arrived who quarreled with each other and argued over the issue of teasing and mocking.
The story continued, instead of dealing with the cases or reports they received one by one. The officers were busy gambling, watching television and drinking. Until one day a tragic tragedy occurred, an officer named Rahmat committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a gun.
The news of Rahmat's death reached the ears of the Village Head and ordered his aide to take away any property that could potentially damage their performance focus in serving the community.
However, this effort failed because the character Pak Cung obstructed it in various ways and modes. It is known that Mr. Cung is the one who subsidizes all the luxurious facilities in the office, including computers, radios, televisions, printers, uniforms and security equipment. This leading official was also the one who asked the officers to be released from all interrogations if there was a case against him in the future.
In the end, the reports that were never followed up continued to pile up. Like an exploding time bomb, one day the group of reporters rushed to the regional security office to demand a resolution to the case they had reported. The situation became chaotic, and the complainants insisted on each other to be served first.
In the midst of the commotion, an independence veteran appeared who broke the noise by giving advice or advice to all officers and reporters. However, at the end of his speech, the veteran was killed by Rahmat, who has now risen from the grave, causing chaos in the office again.
"The message of the second script performance is to make the audience aware that there are still many problems and problems in our nation that "It hasn't been completely resolved. Even for regional security offices," said the director, Nuraini Krisdyaningsih. (*)
