FRI administrators and members monitored food technology piloting in Lamongan and coordinated meetings of the independent campus food patriot team with the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture.
Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—All management and members of the Indonesian Chancellors Forum (FRI) carried out a field visit to monitor the results of food technology piloting in Lamongan on Friday, April 20 2024. There, FRI administrators and members also held a coordination meeting for the independent campus food patriot team together with the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture.
The visit, which was attended by the leaders of 12 universities, was led directly by the Chair of FRI, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M. Kes. The Chancellor of UNESA, who is familiarly called Cak Hasan, said that piloting food technology was a collaboration between the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) and the Lamongan City Government.
For Cak Hasan, the food security and independence program could be collaborated with other universities which has an agricultural study program or faculty to encourage the acceleration of development in the agricultural sector in the region, especially in Lamongan.

"Later "We can direct experts or campus community members who have competence in the field of agriculture to provide assistance to farmers through the MBKM or KKN program," said the UNESA sports science professor.
The MBKM program will be possible later. This is the initial stage of collaborative food self-sufficiency programs in the regions. The lecturers, researchers and students who join the program need to be given supplies that they can later distribute to geographic areas that suit the program.
"If you look at our great agricultural potential, and the enthusiasm to realize resilience and food independence in the region, there is UNESA's desire to open a Faculty of Agriculture," stressed the Chancellor.
Furthermore, Cak Hasan said that UNESA has assets that have been opened as agricultural land in the Pacet area, East Java, as an agricultural center in order to make the food security program a success.
“If according to planning, this food security program will be implemented next year. "However, if we can move more quickly, then it can be realized by the end of this year," he said. (*)
