STYLE: one of the clothes by the Burgundy group in RECIPROCAL 2024
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Various clothes created by D-4 Fashion Design students, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Surabaya State University (UNESA) are a feast for the eyes fashion lovers in the 2nd Annual Fashion Show off Vocational Fashion Design 2024" entitled 'RECIPROCAL' at the Oval Atrium of Ciputra World Mall Surabaya on Saturday, March 9 2024.
This activity involving 25 students with 50 fashion works was packaged by 6 groups, each of which is divided into two big themes, namely Symbiotic and Borderless.
Symbiotic is a theme that has a lot of discourse and freedom to inspire. Every skilled work that is polished from this theme creates a bolder impression with full of authentic colors.
Various patterns and types of materials can be applied, from smooth and soft, to stiff but sturdy materials. The arty off beat style of this theme is really felt with the combination of multi styles.

In theme There are three Symbiotic groups, namely Yellow, Navy, and Broken White with clothing inspiration that combines the relationship between nature and humans.
The Yellow group combines bright yellow and dark blue, a reference to the various colors of flowers when they bloom in each season . Then there is the Navy group which presents designs with animal elements such as snake scales and sea shells, which are then wrapped in blue and grey.
Meanwhile the Broken White group combines grey, white and golden brown. as a symbol of the dove. On one of the models' clothes there is a luxurious cape on the back with a beautiful motif.
While Borderless is the theme that describes clearly a combination without time and place restrictions, as well as getting to know each other and sharing. The motifs of this theme combine east and west styles which are characteristic of Asian culture, then combined with a variety of colors in a harmonious and brighter manner.
The groups within the Borderless scope are Burgundy, Fuchia and Nude. The Burgundy group appeared dominated by purple and a little gray. They combine the patterns and motifs found on Aia's signature sarongs, with suits and party dresses.
Then there is Fuchia whose clothes look elegant in bright pink and black. the Fuchia group displays a combination of songket cloth with suits, koko shirts and wedding dresses.
Then for the Nude group, a mix of The golden brown with cream color is very suitable to describe the desert atmosphere in East Asia.
D-4 Fashion Design Study Program Coordinator and supervisor, Dr. Irma Russanti, S.Pd., M.Ds., said, this event is a form of combination of style, culture and aesthetics that become one.
This activity is important to do as a form of appreciation for students who have struggled complete his best fashion work. "Hopefully with this fashion show, students will be more enthusiastic about developing their competencies so that they graduate ready to take action in the world of the fashion industry," he hoped.
