Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya–The Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNESA held a Training on Making Infographics in Mathematics Learning for Middle School Teachers at Inclusive Schools on Saturday (24/07/2021). The participants involved in the training which is a community service program (PKM) are the teachers of SMPN 13 and SMPN 32 Surabaya.
The PKM program, which is chaired by Ika Kurniasari, S.Pd., M.Pd., is carried out in two stages periodically. The speakers who attended were Prof. Dr. Tatag Yuli Eko Siswono, M.Pd., Dr. Janet Trineke Manoy, M.Pd. and Dr. Rini Setianingsih, M.Kes.
Ahmad Suharto, M.Pd., Principal of SMPN 32 Surabaya City said that the training organized by Unesa Lecturers was very useful for teachers and students to develop the learning process in their school environment. "Let's follow the training process properly and seriously, so that we have additional capital to teach," he said.
On that occasion, Prof. Tatag Yuli Eko Siswono, M.Pd., gave an introduction to the participants about creativity and creative thinking in mathematics. According to him, every learning process for the new curriculum will emphasize elements of Pancasila values.
According to him, teachers should provide learning oriented to problem solving or problem solving. "Learning Mathematics has several aspects of objectives, understanding concepts, solving problems, and communicating the results to others," he explained.
Dr. Rini Setianingsih, M.Kes., said that learning Mathematics should be linked to the cultural sciences that exist in the community with the aim that the application of Mathematics can be optimized so that people can benefit from learning Mathematics activities.
"We can bring community culture into mathematics learning, such as the use of the reog kendang batik motif, typical of the Tulungagung district for description-based questions," he explained. The activity ended with material related to making infographics using the Canva application and a question and answer session. (Nov/zam)
