Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Visual Communication Design Study Program (DKV), Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), State University Surabaya (UNESA) is holding a Packaging Design and Motion Graphic Exhibition entitled 'Design Market' in the Display Room of the T14 FBS Building, on Thursday-Friday, 9-10 November 2023.
This exhibition presents the works of DKV students 2021, mainly related to traditional Indonesian snack packaging and motion graphics portfolios. UNESA DKV students class of 2021 displayed a variety of traditional snack products from various regions in Indonesia.
One of the people in charge, Shofiy Fadila Sasongko Puteri, revealed that this activity was aimed at promoting the best works of DKV students. "Apart from showcasing their work, this exhibition was held to show that DKV UNESA students have a high creative spirit," said Shofiy.
Visitors to the exhibition can enjoy various packaging design creations that combine traditional elements with a modern touch. Starting from traditional cakes, snacks, to regional specialty drinks, they are presented with color and imagination. Each packaging is carefully thought out to evoke a sense of pride in Indonesia's traditional culinary riches.
Silvi Windatul Hikmah, who is one of the cast participants, presented a pukis packaging design with the title "Historical Pukis". "I chose to create a pukis packaging design, because the unique shape and many different flavors of pukis inspired me to create this Historical Pukis packaging design," he explained.
The DKV students also presented their motion graphic portfolios. Visitors can see a variety of animated works that illustrate their creativity and expertise in processing visuals dynamically.
Another participant, Aditya Ari Aldiansyah, explained his motion graphic work. his work contains his own portfolio which consists of biodata, competition achievements and his works from 2022 to 2023. The aim is to prepare UNESA DKV students class of 2021 who will undergo an internship program later.
"Before we make a portfolio "This time, we need to look for references from many sources which are compiled in PDF form before being packaged into motion graphics via Adobe After Effect," he explained.
This exhibition also provides an opportunity for students to interact directly with visitors, share inspiration , and get valuable feedback. With dialogue between creators and visitors, it is hoped that there will be an exchange of ideas and insights that will be useful for future design developments.
UNESA DKV supervisors and lecturers were also present to provide guidance and support to students in preparing and presenting their works. The presence of lecturers as facilitators ensures that each work presented reflects high and professional quality standards.
"Our goal in choosing this traditional snack packaging design was to focus on creating an attractive and functional aesthetic, with the aim of increasing its appeal "for consumers and expanding market share to different segments, which was originally only in the lower middle segment, it can move to the upper middle segment," said Rois Abidin, supervisor of the Packaging Design course.
This exhibition is one of a form of UNESA's commitment to supporting and promoting student talent and creativity in the field of design. This event is also an inspiration for other DKV students to continue to develop their design skills and present brilliant works in the future. []
