Unesa.ac.id., MALANG– The Surabaya State University (UNESA) contingent took part in the Education Personnel Education Institution or LPTK Cup XXI sports competition at the State University of Malang (UM) on Sunday-Wednesday, 1–4 October 2023.
This year's LPTK Cup XXI involved 14 former IKIP universities consisting of Yogyakarta State University, Ganesha Education University, Cendrawasih University, Medan State University, Padang State University, and Sebelas Maret University.
Then there is the Indonesian Education University, Malang State University, Manado State University, Semarang State University, Makassar State University, Gorontalo State University, Jakarta State University, and Surabaya State University (UNESA).
In this event UNESA fielded its best teams in four sports; tennis, table tennis, petanque and badminton. Each sport has numbers that compete for gold, silver and bronze medals.
There are several numbers that UNESA has prepared, including mixed doubles, executive men's doubles and professor's men's doubles in table tennis. Then there are executive men's doubles, teams and outstanding men's doubles in badminton.
Then the women's doubles, men's singles and men's doubles numbers in table tennis. As well as the double mix, double women, double men and triple open executive categories for petanque sports.
Regarding the strategies and preparations that have been made, the Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) UNESA, Dr. Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, S.Pd., M.Kes., said that all preparations had been carried out for approximately a year post-LPTK at Jakarta State University in 2021.
In this long period of time several academics who were appointed as UNESA representatives to compete in LPTK have been trained in such a way as to be ready to compete against opponents who are predicted to have surprises.
Because from his observations, in the LPTK Cup this time there were many teams with new players so things like that cannot be underestimated.
"We are targeting gold in tennis this time, just like we won the gold medal at the LPTK Cup in Jakarta. "So the tough thing is to defend the title," he said.
According to the data, the UNESA tennis team at the 2021 LPTK Cup at Jakarta State University managed to get three gold medals in the Achievement Team, Category Team and Executive A Doubles, as well as one bronze medal obtained from Executive Doubles number B. [*]
