Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA--There are many ways you can commemorate Library Visit Day. One of them could be holding a library competition like the one held by UPT Libraries, UNESA in the Reading Room, Library, UNESA, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya on Thursday, 14 September 2023.
Activities that involve all units and faculties within UNESA This was attended by the Deputy Chancellor I for Education, Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M. Si., Head of Unesa Library UPT, Prof. Drs. Suroto, M. A., Ph.D., dean-deputy dean and director-deputy director of the UNESA environment.
Apart from that, lecturers and administrators of the UNESA Reading Room and library, school partner teachers, and student ambassadors were also present. read UNESA. Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Si. said that libraries are the main pillar of quality education.
"Not only how good or complete a library is, but also the number of visits, the number of readers are also important points," he said.

The FMIPA professor reminded lecturers to have an approach that encourages improving the quality of student literacy. "It could be in the form of giving assignments for students to read e-books, e-journals so that students want to read and enjoy reading," he said.
Head of the UPT Library, Prof. Drs. Suroto, M. A., Ph.D., hopes that the activities held will be an effort to improve the quality of library services around UNESA. As well as conveying to the academic community about the innovations and services available in the library.
It is hoped that this will be a shared motivation to improve the quality of services that can become a magnet for visitors to access reading books, both directly and indirectly.
p>"We will give awards to the winners so that they will be more enthusiastic about continuing to create reading rooms that are innovative, creative and attractive to visitors," he hoped.
On this occasion, the Unesa Library UPT held a selection and the selection of Unesa Reading Ambassadors which was attended by 7 student reading ambassadors from UNESA, namely from Vocational, FEB, FISH, FMIPA, FBS, FIP, FIKK. Apart from that, there was also a competition to profile reading rooms and libraries around UNESA.
In this competition, participants made presentations about the importance of reading, libraries, facilities, and information and issues related to libraries in each faculty.

The reading room and library profile competition has 3 winners and a favorite winner. 1st place was won by the FEB Reading Room, 2nd place by the FIP Reading Room, 3rd place by the FMIPA Reading Room, and favorite winner by FIKK.
In the reading ambassador category, Cesno Pereira Lorenzo Dos Santos, an undergraduate student in Chemistry from FMIPA, won . Cesno admitted that he was very grateful and happy to be able to become a UNESA library ambassador. He has already made preparations for the competition.
"As an ambassador, I have a responsibility, I invite my fellow students to have a reading culture and how the library is not only a place to borrow books, but also has bigger services. "We can again form a positive community," he said.
This activity also included a book exhibition from the UNESA reading room, publishers, and also the signing of the UNESA Library UPT MOU with SDN 1 Gilang Sidoarjo and SDN Wonocolo 4 Sidoarjo. [*]
