Unesa.ac.id. URABAYA—There is good news coming from the Confucius Institute (CI) Surabaya State University. Through a long-standing partnership with China's CCNU (Central China Normal University), CI UNESA is the official center for the Mandarin language test, HSK (Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) or HSKK in Indonesia.
Director of CI UNESA, Sueb, S. Pd., M.Pd., said that CI UNESA is ready to become a Mandarin language proficiency test center which is planned to begin implementation in 2024.
"We have made preparations in accordance with the standards used at CCNU China. "We have conveyed and discussed this with CI CCNU at the Board Meeting some time ago," said Sueb at UNESA on Tuesday, 7 May 2024.
He added, the opening of the Mandarin language proficiency test service at UNESA through one-sided CI to strengthen and expand the Mandarin language learning ecosystem in Indonesia.
"We have long partnered with CI CCNU in Mandarin language learning programs, China-Indonesia cultural exchanges, and other superior programs. The learning and exchange aspect has been around for a long time we run. Well, now we will initiate the proficiency test at UNESA," he explained.
With the existence of an official Mandarin language proficiency test center at UNESA, it is hoped that it will provide easy access for people who want to test their abilities. language for work or study needs in China.
"There is no doubt about the test system, because we partner and work directly with CCNU in China. "The standards also follow CCNU China," he stressed.
Dr. Martadi, M.Sn., Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Development, Cooperation and Information and Communication Technology at UNESA, said that CI UNESA is at UNESA Campus 3 Surabaya, Jalan Prof. "CI's role could be bigger, becoming a center for Mandarin language learning, Indonesia-China cultural exchange, HSK test center, scholarships, diplomacy, etc.," he said.
He hopes for CI's partnership. UNESA and CCNU as a platform for deeper collaboration, including facilitating the exchange of CCNU lecturers, experts or professors to teach at UNESA and vice versa, the initiation of collaborative research, teacher professional education, and development programs for new study programs and faculties.
"By leveraging each other's strengths and resources, we strongly believe we can create a synergistic relationship that will not only benefit the institution, but also the wider academic community," he hoped. []***
