SURABAYA—Hundreds of delegates and Indonesian and French government officials attended the opening ceremony of the Joint Working Group (JWG) until Friday, July 5 2024, it carries the theme "Fostering Indonesia-French Higher Education, Research, and Innovation Partnership for Advanced and Sustainable Future."
Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Secretary General of Kemendikbudristek), Ir Suharti, MA, Ph.D, said that the JWG, which is held every two years, is intended to strengthen Indonesia-France cooperation in in the field of education and culture.
There were hundreds of delegations from the two countries discussing cooperation that had been carried out and planning cooperation that would be carried out in the future. All were discussed together by both parties Suharti added, through JWG, the good cooperation between Indonesia and France can become stronger. Collaboration between universities and research institutions in the two countries can become stronger.
It is hoped that the process and results will be stronger. The quality of education output and outcomes is increasing. There are also more research results that can be used in the two countries. This aspect of cooperation through JWG is focused on what is needed for national development. "So our priority is to focus on realizing Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

JWG and MBKM
This JWG is a momentum to strengthen the MBKM program. The French government has opened the doors to higher education and research in France to accept Indonesian students studying there through the MBKM program, one of which is IISMA and IISMAVO.
French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, expressed his pleasure at being able to concretize cooperation, especially in the field of education. "Programs such as student mobility (student exchange) are certainly very important for the two countries. "We hope that many Indonesian students will come and study on our campus, and vice versa,"
Fabien Penone emphasized that the JWG keyword is strengthening the long-standing partnership between Indonesia and France in the fields of technology to agriculture. However, this time, the collaboration is focused on responding to the latest challenges in the field of education, including the digital economy and social sciences.
The French Ambassador to Indonesia delivered a welcoming speech and emphasized the importance of strengthening Indonesia-France cooperation through the JWG.
"We "We really believe that what we are building through this collaboration is very important for the transformation of education and the acceleration of development in the two countries. It is because of this urgency that we are involving many delegates in this JWG," he said.
As host, UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., expressed his commitment to continue to support strengthening Indonesia-France cooperation. UNESA, he continued, is also increasingly expanding international cooperation, one of which is through this activity.
Added by Cak Hasan, this international forum discussed eight main global themes which include, (1) green economy and blue economy, (2) arts, culture and tourism, (3) space technology and observation, (4) digital technology, (5) STEM, (6) health and medical devices, (7) disabilities, (8) partnerships and methodologies.
The global themes discussed in more depth at this forum provide strategic opportunities for education officials, academics, researchers and innovators from Indonesia and France to build networks and strengthen collaboration.
Hundreds of Indonesian and French delegates packed GRAHA UNESA for the opening of JWG XIII 2024.
This According to him, it is in line with world conditions which are increasingly connected by information and communication technology through interactions between countries. Therefore, education people need to take advantage of this convenience to share, discuss and work together to produce benefits for the public.
