Unesa.ac.id-Surabaya, The times and technological advances, more or less starting to be less familiar among the millennial generation. In fact, Wayang is one of the noble cultures of the Javanese people which existence needs to be maintained. Starting from this problem, Unesa students who are members of the Student Creativity Program for Entrepreneurship created environmentally friendly bag products with millennial-based Wayang motif as a solution to increase the existence of Wayang to the millennial generation.
The team consisted of Septian Handayani (head of the team), Mohammad Rizqi Hisbullah, Dyah Silvian Retnosari, Dyah Pupitaning Ayu, and Isna Yuniarti Shalehah. The team made an environmentally friendly travel bag made from gunny sacks that had been processed and inserted millennial-based Wayang mascot as the motif for the product.
"We chose gunny sacks as the material for the bag because they are environmentally friendly, made from plant fibers and have a strong, durable and easy to obtain texture. As for the Wayang mascot, we designed it in a more contemporary shape without losing the distinctive features of each Wayang character. It aims to improve the existence of Wayang in the current millennial era,” explain Septian Handayani, head of the team.
The travel product, Septian added, was given the name "Eco-Bag" in accordance with the concept of products made from environmentally friendly materials. The bag is designed uniquely, ethnically and stylishly for young people with various options of attractive models. The options of these models are a hand bag, backpack, trolley and pouch model that can be customed according to the wishes and needs of the traveler.
Apart from attractive motifs and designs, said Septian, the bag is also equipped with a QR Code to provide education regarding each Wayang character that is featured in the product. The users can easily scan the QR Code on the bag section using the QR Scanner application, then they will be linked to a blog page which contains information related to the Wayang characters used in Eco-Bag products.
Septian and his team hope that this “Eco-Bag” product innovation can be a way to introduce and improve the existence of Wayang to the public, especially to young people, as well as a product that can make it easier for travelers to carry their luggage when traveling. Consumers who want to buy, can visit @ecobag_sby Instagram account and place their order through the Whatsapp contact, marketplace or application that is already available on the linktree on the Instragram account.
